I nearly put my money with them because of the tie up

Glad I didnt

I don't think anyone who has money in there should be overly worried if I am honest.

Looks like they'l be bailed out without any major problems.

there's something about companies who employ Mr Westhoff as Finance Director.....can't put my finger on it :icon_cool
Portman, Newcastle, West Bromwich.....

I'd be keeping my hands out of the building society sector as the apportionment of the levies needing to be repayed from the government 'covered bonds' scheme is well out of proportion when compared to large banks - due to the lending the sector has needed to do to cover themselves and the change in fitch (and other, can't remember at present) ratings its increasingly difficult for them to get good deals with regards to treasury and they're looking fecked in my opinion.

Given time I can see there only being a few major building societies and even they will be so prudent it wont be worth while approaching them
