Patrick Kisnorbo and Joe Mattock took another step back to fitness when they featured in the Leicester City reserve side that gained a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa this afternoon.
Kisnorbo had been out of action since April with a knee injury, while Mattock picked up an ankle knock at the start of the campaign.
But both players are now well on their way back to fitness having made their second appearance for Gerry Taggart's second string in the space of a week.
Mattock played the full game at left-back, while centre half Kisnorbo was replaced after 75 minutes of the contest.
In fact it was the Australian international defender who gave City the lead on the day - heading home to redress the balance in the first half.
Villa struck late on in the second period to regain the advantage, but an injury time strike from Craig King made it all square on the day.
Radi Kishishev, Levi Porter, Max Gradel and recent signing Bruno Berner were also part of the Leicester side, while Premiership stars Marlon Harewood, Zat Knight, Steve Sidwell and Wayne Routledge featured for Villa.
The game was played behind closed doors at Villa's impressive Bodymoor Heath training complex.
City reserve team manager Gerry Taggart said: "The lads put in an excellent performance out there today. We played some tremendous football and it really was a great game to watch.
"Joe and Skip both came through the game unscathed, which is great news. That's their second appearance in the last seven days and they are now on their way back to fitness.
"There was a little bit of dispute surrounding our first goal. Eric (Odhiambo) has tried to nick it just on the line - but I think Paddy will claim it.
"Villa grabbed a late goal, but the lads fought back for a draw. They showed great spirit and they all deserve a lot of praise for what was a very good performance."
