Bobby Kellard RIP

His son just posted on Facebook

One of my favourites that season we went up to the Old First Division

I was living in London at that time. Agreed to take my girlfriend down to her aunt's in Bristoleoleole for the weekend (on my trusty Lambretta) on condition that I was allowed to go back to Swindon for the game on the Saturday. Bobby scored late on, the only goal in the game, and all hell was let lose. Fortunately I was still wearing my crash helmet so came away unscathed; others didn't.

As one of the architects of our success that season I always thought that he was unlucky not to be kept on for our return to the top division but IIRC we swapped him for some bloke called Birchenall or summat from Palace.

RIP - fine journeyman .

I wonder what's happened to Willie Carlin. Perhaps I should google.

Apparently still alive, though possibly no longer kicking, in Allestree near Derby. Once a shagger, always a shagger, eh?
