So we're going to have a new shirt every season - so what - we're no different to many other clubs - ask your partner if they would like to wear the same dress or shirt for the next 2 years when they go down to the local - no chance - - I know its a bit tough on parents but if the kids want one its a good alternative to more toys at christmas and on birthdays - if you don't want one the answers simple - don't buy one - A lot of fans seem to forget that if we are to buy new players then the money has to be generated through season tickets, merchandising etc. - thats unless there some rich Russian mafia type bloke (alledegly) wishes to launder his money on us - I don't suppose many were moaning when the club annouced that season tickets for under 9s would be free next season which I think is a fantastic jesture - Alot were moaning when the club bought out the 120 range of shirts etc but I can tell you that the 120 greatest goals dvd is absolutely fantastic and worth every penny

Agreed!

Still not getting to bed early Homer? ;-)

I think we all agree that the Club needs money but speaking to us like 5 year olds is becoming boring. Mace seems to spin stories that don't need spinning, shirts will sell themselves. I have always bought City shirts but I won't be buying anymore until Mace and co realise that I and many other City fans aren't morons.

Has anyone considered the effect this will have on Christmas sales?

If the club statement on the shirt release had read: "We have decided to release a new shirt every year to raise extra revenue" I would still have bought one.

It's the sexual demands Mrs Homer puts on him that makes him so tired SF.

I don't care whether they release a new shirt every two years or every month. I still won't buy one.

What really gets me is the way the club have lied and broken promises.

Last summer they lied about season ticket prices (and Mace went on the radio and lied about them), they lied about publishing the results of the La Manga enquiry, and they lied about the life of the shirts.

So what other lies are they telling us that we don't know about?

Yeah! It must be hard being a lovin machine! twice a month I heard!!!! :o Now that is stamina! ;-)

The point is about blind exploitation, and the utter contempt that the fans are being subject to

Why develop an LCFC Customer Charter that states categorically that shirt deals are for two years, and then just ignore it at will?
Why release a sackload of shit PR about how the shirt is the cheapest in ten years when, in reality, it the most expensive we have ever released ?
Why justify this disgrace by saying that their research shows that 40% of other clubs do it (statistics that actually show that the majority if football clubs do not, in case your maths is as bad as your English) ?
Why have an anniversary that doesn't actually exist ?
Why have a two day tournament, celebrating said anniversary, that costs you an arm an leg to watch the reserves on one day, and some shitty game on the next ?
Why claim that season ticket prices are cheaper than the last time we got relegated, when (if you remember the "compensation deals" last time) they patently were not ?
Why claim they seek to consult fans views when NONE of the above has ever been subject to consultation, or even basic canvassing of opinion ?

"Don't buy the shirt, then" is the pitiful, and only, argument put forward in defence of this outrage. Go and bury your head in the sand, and let the club exploit their absolute monopoly and ride roughshod over the fans.

And everyone on here was supportive of the season ticket deal for under nines. What has that got to do with anything ?

The OS is saying that they have 'even' had a shirt ordered on-line from someone at Arsenals Training ground as it is soooo popular

Still, with any luck it'll be Stuart Taylor ordering his goalie strip for next year!!! ;-) The club want to be careful, all this tapping up nonsense is everywhere!

Actually that twice a month consists of one time talking about doing it, and another arguing about why we haven't done it....

They didn't claim that. They claimed that season tickets were the same as they were two years ago.

But they weren't. A season ticket in the Kop this season costs at least £50 more than it did two years ago, £80 more if you didn't have a season ticket for the previous two years.

And two years ago we got 27 matches as part of the season ticket, plus other benefits like discounts on guest tickets and free entrance to reserve matches.

This season we get 23 matches, and nothing else.

So in reality it was a huge increase, but the club dressed it up as a 'price freeze'.
I sent these facts in to radio Leicester when Paul Mace was on, and he didn't answer the question, he just came out with some crap about it being 'good value'. Good value or not, that's no excuse for continually telling lies, thinking that no one will notice. We're not as stupid as you think we are, Mr Mace.

shirt = £35
lcfc margin = 40%
profit on each shirt = £14
how many are they expecting to sell? 5000?
fantastic, sell 5000 and the money generated pays Walker for 3 and a half weeks.......

They sold over 30,000 of the current home shirt. And I bet their margin is a lot bigger than 40%.

Margin more likely to be in the region of 70%

I love it. I just flaming well love it. :smt005

I disagree. He expects this sort of static; moreover he and the Club know that (assuming the same net profit from this shirt and the previous one) they can make the same money if they sell half the number of shirts (18000 -> 36000) in one year as they did over two years previously.

The reality of the situation is that I expect City to sell more than 18000 shirts this shirt year.

Given this and given the fact that football fans in general are treated so shoddily yet seem only to organise themselves in small groups or affiliated to larger FA type organisations, I would say that that Mr. Mace's assessment of football fans is pretty accurate.

My final thought on this subject is the pejorative abusive nature of the relationship between City, as expressed by Mace, and the fans. Why is it abusive? Simply because it abuses the loyalty the fans show to the Club. :?

We all know that Football is over priced and the shirts are over priced for what they are, we all know that football clubs are a monopoly. We won't go anywhere else to watch it, so why keep wheeling out this aged ego fueled CBeebies presenter (Mace) to insult us.

Most City fans will admit that whatever the charge for admission or shirts we will pay it as we always have done. I'm just fed up with being patronised.

If we do get relegated I can't wait for the 'Extra comfort 3 for 2 offer' which will involve Mace telling us "With our exclusive offer you can purchase a '3 seats for the price of 2 season ticket', it enables our most loyal supporters to have a short kip during periods of non-excitement".
