Let's be honest about this. We've won one game, we are only clear of the relegation places on goal difference and we let in 2 poor goals. There is still a long way to go before we are safe, so let's not get too excited by this result and not too upset if we lose on Saturday.

Rob Kelly isn't our saviour yet and shouldn't be hung, drawn and quartered if we lose the next one.

Correct.

so to summarise......

he needs to prove himself over more than 2 games that he is worthy of the job for the rest of the season when there are still realistic targets outside the club.

i really hope he does well but i wont criticise him if he doesn't.

it would be a shame if he left when the new manager arrives too.

speaking to the ex wife of a former player sunday night he is a genuine sort of bloke who is concerned about his future and couldnt sleep two nights before the soton game he is in a diffficult and uncertain situation.imagine being at work and then being told that you had to go and do someone elses job for a while and you may get a new boss and/or the sack at anytime and then try and do your best. not easy is it.

bless him.

i would have thought that the club will do whatever they can to keep him though? as it was them, not CL that gave him the job in the first place?

although i dont think kelly should be left in charge for much longer, i would rather him stay in charge rather than see us waste money on someday who isnt any better (reid, gregory etc). kelly is an amateur and i dont agree with him being given the long term position, or even until the end of the season, however... when levein was in charge, when we went down, we never looked like coming back, and kelly has turned that around, have to give him full credit for that.

I agree to an extent but Stuart Pearce hasn't done too bad for a novice.

pearce is a good example of someone who took over as caretaker and managed to get the job permanently.

i can happen and it could to us if RK does well.

i couldnt really give a flying donkey who is in charge so long as we stop up

Yup. Survival is everything just now.

I know a lot of people are saying that we need 50 points to ensure survival, but on current form it would not be necessary to get that many. The team currently fourth from bottom, i.e. us, is averaging 0.935 points per game, which would give us 43 points at the end of the season. Getting 50 points means averaging 1.09 points per game, which after 31 games would give 33.70 points, which would be good enough for 18th place at the minute.

Obviously this doesn't mean a lot and I wouldn't have bothered if I wasn't bored, but all we have to do to ensure survival is to score more points than Crewe, Millwall and Brighton and I believe we can do that.

But it's a well known fact that the sides at the foot of the table pick up more points in the last 10 or so games than in their previous 30 odd. They raise their game because of their position whilst other teams in mid table who cannot make play-offs, etc relax a bit.

I liked the way Rob Kelly ordered the players over to clap the fans after the match. They all came over including RK and clapped the fans for about 70-80 seconds. This may not seem like much but it was just something you didn't see under CL.

That's because we never won Foxy.
