I think the point hes making is that age shouldn't really matter, if a player is not good enough for a certain level then hes not good enough. There's always room for improvement of course... but you could also argue if you haven't got it in the first place, then you haven't got it.

The point I was making is that Wright, Ferdinand and Pearce were all playing non-league football at 21. BG seemed to be saying that if someone isn't good enough for the first team at 18 they never will be, which is obviously not true of some players who take longer to develop.

I'm sure the coaches at the club have a far better idea of his ability than those people who have written him off after seeing him play in a pre-season game. Maybe he's been sent to Cheltenham because they think the experience will help his Leicester career. Or maybe because they think it will help him get a club at a lower level.

You have named 4 players, 4 top drawer players, but you would be able to add 1000 names to each of those 4 players, who didn't make it.
Rowe-Turner is and will be just another player who didn't quite make it. Whatever happened to Martin Reeves, Jon Stevenson, John Ashton (or whatever their names were) the list is endless.

b) I know, but I couldn't think of any crap wingers signed by O'Neill (which was the key factor in the comparison). I'm sure there were dozens, but off the top of my head I failed. Apologies.
