Smith Loan Spell To Be Extended
Leicester City have today confirmed that they will be taking up the option in January to extend Ryan Smith's loan spell until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old winger has made a huge impact both on and off the field since arriving from Premiership giants Arsenal back in September.

He has so far made eight appearances for the Foxes and helped himself to one goal.

His pace, skill and flair has added a new dimension to the City attack and Smith is delighted that the two clubs have been able to extend his deal at the Walkers Stadium.

The highly-rated teenager said: "I really feel part of everything and not just on the fringes and that's why I am delighted to be staying until the end of the season.

"When I return to Arsenal I want to go back knowing I have done a good job at Leicester.

"But I am not just here to learn. I have come to make an impression."

Manager Craig Levein is also pleased that Smith will remain a City player until the end of the campaign and believes there is still more to come from him.

He added: "We are grateful to Arsenal for allowing us to do the deal.

"Even though he's done well for us so far in games, from what I've seen on the training ground there's still more to come from him.

"I'm not usually a fan of loans without a view to making the deal permanent, but in this case I feel it's justified.

"Obviously Arsenal will reap the rewards in the long run, but for now we're getting the benefits."

Super news!

Yes it is - but no news about whether we will be allowed to use him in our attempt to knock Arsenal's neighbours out of the FA Cup!

Definately get to the playoffs now!

Your tongue will stay permanently attached to the inside of your cheek if you keep that up for much longer!

i think they might let us!! i cant see Arsenal getting to the latter stages and feel the need to call Smith back just to play in the FA Cup

I think Arsenal fans should be allowed to vote on it. I am sure that they, if nobody else, would want to us to have the best chance of beating the ... eeerrrr... Tottenham.

my mates an Arsenal fan and didnt even know who the feck he was!! so i suppose i use the term 'fan' in a board sense!!

Message board or bread board?

I think its fantastic news, Id love to see him stay permanently but i cant see it happening.

I dont know if anyone else would agree but i think Smith its a great player, However i dont see him as being good for the Arsenal first team, considering there spending power.

Presumably if we can have him for the season then why not? Doubt he'd be called back to play the final anyways.

This has brightened my day, a great player who can teach others (Hamill) too I hope.

Pennant wasn't talked up as much as smith has been. and from CLs comments he doesn't think it is possible.

If he was to leave Arsenal, i think he would get a Premiership club make an offer.
