I want to buy a basic sat nav, nothing flashy... any recommendations?

Go for a Garmin. By far and away the best out there.

Would also recommend Tomtom, but I understand they are on the verge of financial meltdown due to issues with Microsoft, who are trying to sue them for millions of pounds due to illegal usage of a program, or something like that.

Anyway come to Halfords and I might just be able to sort out some TB discount :icon_wink

With every Garmin I have used (two different models) I may as well have arrived at my destination by the time they connected to the satelites. And I don't know if you can alter the timing on the voices, but they should be reprogrammed to say "You needed the last left turn" and "You should have turned right 100 yards ago" for the time they give you.

TomTom for me all the way.

Navman are useless; we've had about 3 in the past year.

They've all been different versions of Navman, but with everyone after a few months of usage they switch off due to not enough battery, so you charge the fecker and it doesn't work as it charges, so you leave it to charge expecting it to have a full battery which it says it does then the bloody thing switches off after 5 minutes and says "low battery."

Piece of crap :bang:

How can that be a basic model of a sat nav? It has nothing to do at all with satellites, GPS or anything electronic.

That is just a book of maps, and 3 yeras out of date. Yes you are an arse.
