Did we not insist on a sell-on clause ie make a little out of the Blackburn deal!

I doubt there was as we were desperate to get rid of high earners and even if there was I would think the money would go to the creditors of the old company. I would not expect the current City to see anything out of this.

Come on, as if. This is the board that approved a 4 year contract for Elliott at 31, the board that decided PT should have a contract renewal after we broke the club reacord for the number of constcutive losses, the board that didn't give a second thought to future planning and the board that took us into Admin.

The fact Savage left us for a measly 1million quid shows how desprate we were at that point and I seriously doubt our 'former' board would of had the brains to put a sell on caluse into his contract!

He left us for £2.5 million didn't he?? :?

It was something like £2.5 million, but I think he got a big chunk of it himself, to compensate for taking a wage cut at Brum.

If what you say is true, presumably you also think that if we sell Scowcroft or Walker the money would go to the creditors of the old company.

No those players are now contracted to the current company. When Savage was sold the contract for his sale would have been between Birmingham and the old company.

Whatever - but its part of a pattern of consistently bad management - Savage, now 30, in a drastically fallen transfer market is sold for more than we could raise two and a half years ago. Thatcher is virtually given away because of a self inflicted damaging clause and is then placed on the market by his next club for a realistic fee. Benjamin - who never looked as if he was remotely qualified to play serious football was thrown a fortune. Always there are apologists who find sound reasons for these examples of dire management but it has been going on for years.

But surely all the contrcts were transfered to the new company, including things like sell on clauses?

At the time of administration we were still owed money by other clubs, for players they'd bought from us. There has never any suggestion that the new company wouldn't get that money when it was paid, so I don't see why any sell on clause for Savage would be any different.

I am not an accountant and don’t have inside knowledge so I could quite likely be wrong but I would have thought the new company agreed to take over the existing contracts as they were football debts and so that is the only way the League would let them take / keep the old companies place in the league and the only way to pick up a team that they could afford that would be able to play in the Championship. As these were purely liabilities as far as the administrator / creditors were concerned I would think they were only too happy for the new company to have those. I would have thought the old company kept anything that was an asset unless the new one paid for it, or (like the stadium) a creditor took it as payment. I would think things like staged payments were still due to the old company to be distributed amongst creditors, after all they were payments for assets of the old company not the new one. You say you saw nothing that said we wouldn’t get those payments but did you see anything to suggest we would? I don’t remember seeing anything like that.

Is anyone on the board an accountant, insolvency practitioner or in the know about the City situation, it would be interesting to know.

I have seen something that suggests we would, but I can't remember where I saw it so I'm not sure if it's reliable information.

Was it a vivid dream or a subliminal thought.
Just remember what you've been taught.

What makes me laugh about this whole thing is how up there own arse Birmingham have become. Their Chairman was on Sky Sports the other day saying how he can understand why savage has gone to a small club, and then went on to infer that Birmingham were a big club and savage could not take the pressures of being at a big club.

I can undderstand them being upset about savvo leaving...but what a load of S***! Birmingham are a big club in their fookin dreams! The truth is that Blackburn have had big name players like Shearer, and have won the greatest prize of them all, the premier league title. What the fook have the brum scum won.

Big club

we were a bigger club than them when we were in the prem under MON. europe, two cup wins highr finishes than them. so im sure he does know what its like to play for a big club. maybe brum are feeling a little insecure :) argg

See the winger is back on form in today's papers insiting Birmingham have somehow wronged him. Let's just face it the guy is a joke. He should keep his mouth shut and concentrate on playing football.

After all he needs all the concentration he can get just to time tackles.

Presumably you mean whinger. Although he has played as a winger a few times.

His protestations that his move was just for family reasons are pathetic, he should just have been honest from the start.

While I'm sure his stories about his parents being unwell are true, that's not a valid excuse to move to Blackburn.

I heard him on the radio yesterday talking about Blackburn being closer to his parents. He said those people who say Brum is closer are wrong, because he lives in Stratford on Avon, not Birmingham.

Is it really beyond him to move closer to his parents, but still play for Birmingham?
Is there something in his Birmingham Contract that said he had to live in Stratford?

If he moved somewhere between Brum and North Wales (Shrewsbury?), he'd be a similer distance away from Birmingham, but would halve his journey to his parents.

So his reason for moving is obviously false, yet he continues to moan about the way he's been treated. I hope Blackburn get relegated. I bet if they do he'll move to any Premiership club that will have him, no matter how far he has to travel.
