What should we do with Cooper?

  • Stick with him

  • Sack him now

  • Give him three more games, then reassess

Well, it appears Cooper is putting us over a barrel of his own making - funny that. Our results have been par at best, the performances have largely been a shambles, the signings have been very ordinary, Cooper's tactical nous is about an existent as honesty in a US campaign speech, and we appear to be descending into the grim world of the drop zone. So, what should we do?

Note: Poll will close about 45 minutes before kick off vs Chelsea (because it's a proper poll)

If you got rid now, who would likely come in to replace him.

However, if you don’t get rid, and the situation deteriorates, the viable options will become less and less.

If you don’t get rid, and we survive, no problem !

This guy has a trophy. That he won last year.

Hmm. I voted sausages but I think I'd actually be all for telling him he has three games to actually show that he has seen the problems, and if he doesn't, he goes.

You ****ed up. You included sausages as an option… and as I was tucking into a sausage sarnie.

As for Cooper I think all of my vitriol died with the sacking of Rodgers. I don’t like calling for people to lose their job. He’s a person, and probably a decent one with a family.

If I was in charge he would never have been appointed. I will leave my feelings at that.

We should sound out alternatives and if, and only if, someone agrees to take the job, then we should sack Cooper. So we can sack him and announce the new manager the next day. We're better to stick with him than sack him with no replacement lined up. 3-4 games with nameless coaches in charge is definitely not what we need.

I like Cooper. I think he's genuinely doing his best. He doesn't come across as a conceited prick like some managers. I want it to work under him. I couldn't give a flying **** that he managed Forest. But I just don't see any signs of improvement and I actually think we're getting worse. The Forest and Old Trafford performances were those of a team on their way to relegation.

For what it's worth, I'd much prefer David Moyes over Potter. And no, of course they're not the only two options. With the threat of a points deduction gone (at least I think) we are a much more attractive option now than we were in the summer. Had we not had that points penalty hanging over us in the summer, I don't think Cooper would be our manager now. It's time to look for someone else. Cut ties with Cooper. And if so, I would wish him all the best.

No option to extend his contract for another five years?

Shambles

He's a top top manager and we're lucky to have him

I don’t think that means anything. Vincent Kompany took Burnley down last season and now sits top of the Bundesliga with Bayern. My point being that what any manager does with one group of players has no bearing on what he would potentially do with another.
I could sit top of the bundesliga with Bayern, and that would be running two jobs.

The suggestion that experience and track record means nothing here is wibble of the highest order

You should have gone for the England job then as Tuchel couldn’t manage it.

My point was more based on the fact that you inferred that because he won a trophy last year - that made him a good candidate.

Whenever a manager takes over it’s a gamble for the club. Every manager has their merits (look at what Cooper did with Forest the year they came up) but they’ll need a shit load of luck to win over what is inevitably going to be a pissed off bunch of supporters. They don’t get time any more - those days have gone.

Ah - my point was more about the point that the argument is iften that managers haven't won anything. Moyes was always a solid choice - but the addition of that trophy to his CV isn't exactly going to hurt his reputation either is it.

Did Burnley not win the championship? I don't remember
