NICHOLLS CLAIMS THIRD BRITISH CROWN
Scott Nicholls led a Coventry one-two in the Championship of Great Britain at Oxford on Sunday.
The Ipswich-born rider claimed the title for the third time in his career as he held off the challenge of Bees colleague Chris Harris in the final.
Defending champion Joe Screen had to settle for third place, while Mark Loram ended the evening in fourth.
Nicholls was delighted to come out on top at Sandy Lane to make up for his disappointing result at the Czech Grand Prix on the previous night.
After ending the qualifying heats as the top-scorer with 14 points, the 27-year-old failed to reach the final in Prague.
"It was nice to win again, especially after going through the card last year and having an engine failure in the final and going home with fourth place," he stated.
"It is a bit of a consolation after Saturday night and it was nice to go home with something to show for my weekend's work.
"I should probably have four or five British titles to my name by now, but three is good and it is a nice feeling to be British Champion again."
