threads like that should be banned, never to be seen again. Its painfull to see where we were in the PAST

scowy was a decent player for us and i think its a good signing for cov. glad to see walkers gone to a prem club, he deserves it, though cant see him displacing jasskelinen

I reckon cov will strugle even more this season. They had rubbish players last season and all they have done is sign the players that struggled to keep us up. lets hope they join the F****T.

Rumours this morning that Adams is now after Andy "Andrew" Impey and Matt Heath.

I think that just about ends any discussion on comparing the situation of the two sides.

The past??

I don't think "the past" can be used to describe our most recent season just yet. It is still very much in doubt that what we have now is any better than what we had then.

I think we had this discussion a couple of months then, and it seemed there were a few people who were shitting themselves,

Not me!! I was feeling quite relaxed about watching football in a new division. Just think - all those new grounds!!

and the majority (including me) who thought we were in no danger. The bookies also thought we were never in serious danger of going down because I think the odds never got lower than something like 33-1, and that's when they were actually taking bets on us.
Maybe you think those kind of odds mean we were in serious danger, but I wouldn't call that serious.

Jeff's right, you know. But only because there were always three teams who were worse than us - and by the time the last few games of the season came, two relegation places had already been reserved - so even though the situation seemed bad, there was never really any chance of us going down.

But those three clubs won't be around this season and we have yet to see how the three new clubs will perform at a higher level. My main concern is over whether the players who we have brought in will give any better service than those that have left. In financial terms, they are better for the club - let's hope it will be the same on the pitch!

People only really started to talk about relegation as a possibiliy after we lost to Wigan, with five games left.
On this thread in particular: http://www.talkingballs.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5796

But the reality was that we only needed one point from the last five games to stay up. Those people who thought we could go down were expecting so many bizarre results to happen it was never really likely.

I posted a few times on that thread and stated that too many folk were being very negative about our chances. When you look back we drifted too close for comfort but it would have taken a freak set of results for us to have been relegated. I never thought we would get relegated last season in the same way, i don't think we have much of a chance of being promoted this season.
