Leicester City Assistant Manager Craig Shakespeare has agreed to reduce his responsibilities with the Football Association, following the recent management restructure around the England team.

In a decision reached mutually following discussions with the FA's senior management, Craig will not be part of interim manager Gareth Southgate's coaching staff, but will maintain a close relationship with the FA with a view to potentially contributing to the England setup in future.

FA Technical Director, Dan Ashworth said: “We really appreciate Craig’s contribution with the England team and would like to thank him for his hard work with us. Craig is an outstanding coach and would be welcome back in the England set-up at any time.”

Shakey will be looking for a manager's job now and there could be a few available in the next few days.

What makes you think that?

What makes you think that?

He's tasted the big time of PL champions and now CL and gained exposure with the England team but not enough. He'll want more. There are plenty of teams in the prem and championship soon to be without a manager.

So how many PL teams appoint someone else's assistant manager as manager?

He is currently assistant manager at the football equivalent of the Ritz travelling Europe in the Champions League with virtually unlimited resources.

Why would he want to be the manager of Fawlty Towers in Torquay working on a shoestring, with no sports science, scouting network or money?

I guess it only takes 1 club.

I can only talk about myself but if I was an assistant manager of his age I'd want a shot at being the top guy and I'd rather be the top man doing what I think is right in Torquay, Derby or Swansea than be a no.2 doing as I'm told at a club on it's way down from the pinnacle.

Now is the best chance he has of ever getting a head job.

There are a lot of assistants out there that are happy to just be an assistant.

just my opinion. I think the England move was a sign that he could be interested in more than being an assistant.

None

Ever

But don't let that get in the way

then again I never said PL club but don't let that get in the way either.

The England move in which he was a coach?

Nothing suggests he wants to be a manager other than someone guessing.

and logic.

Who targets a career path where they see the pinnacle to be an assistant?

Even old man walshy wasn't happy enough to be Assitant manager or Chief Scout.

He's never even hinted at it

There is no fact, no possible hint or suggestion of a fact, not even a whisper of a rumour of a fact, to provide a valid or logical reason to believe he would want to move into a managers position - or indeed any position other than the one he has right now

But that's just my opinion, obviously

I wonder if the club tea lady has grand plans to be a manager also...

So you both disagree.

That's fine with me.
