I think it's reprehensible the way footballers are being singled out. The PL advising players to take a 30% pay cut is bollocks of the highest standing. We live in a capitalist country. It's a system of many hierarchies based on many things. Some get paid more than others. We don't live in a socialist society.
No one has any obligation to donate or take pay cuts etc. It's one thing to pay tax which filters through to those who can't or can't be arsed to work, but it's a whole other thing for anyone to have to take a pay cut or be embarrassed into doing so.
The government has put in place a way of paying wages for people up to £2.5k per month and the clubs should take full advantage. That is exactly what it's there for whether the business owner is a billionaire or not. Businesses will make use of this up and down the country so why not football clubs?
Casual staff should get nothing. Matchday staff who are on zero hours etc should get nothing. That's the way it works. If you don't like it then go get a job that is full time.
It's all nice and colourful to think that everyone should be sharing and caring but no one needs to do anything and certainly shouldn't be made to look bad or feel bad if they don't take pay cuts. This needs to be dealt in house with each club and each player.
At the end of the day footballers earn their money fair and square just like anyone else. It's not Vardy's fault someone is willing to pay him £110k per week. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
