Would it be daft for a team to change its manager with only 6 games to go

I'm not going on a Holloway out campaign, but would like to ask a question that applies to not only to us but any football club in our situation. After beating WBA i felt it secured IH for the rest of the season. One week later the clubs championship future looks as frail as ever. The question is no matter what your opinions about IH are, would it be daft to change a manager with only 6 games to go? Even if you want him out, is it now too late for this season and we should just let him continue to the end?

You can look at it in two ways, a change can have an immediate effect on players who look at playing for their futures.
But this close to the end of the season, that change might well be too late to make.

I honestly don't know what the answer is, we were asked to judge IH on HIS team, and imo it doesnt matter if the players were ones he brought in, or had been here 2 years before him, almost 6 months on this is HIS team and apart from a couple of decent performances, it's just as bad as it's been over the past 4 years.

Would a new man have enough time to get those same players worknig their arses off to get the results to stay up? Only if those players care enough and to be perfectly honest, I don't think they do.

Alex Ferguson couldnt make this lot play as a team in 6 games, but at least he would give the useless a proper wake up

Too late this season. And I think this loss of options is the worst of all positions. Effectively, we are in the hands of someone who is probably out of his depth and we are once again seriously at risk.

Holloway secured his position for the reast of the season by the win at WBA. I think he would have to walk now - and I can't see that happening.

I wanted to believe that he might yet make a decent job of it and that last week was a spring board - and he still might. However, I seriously doubt it and it is the total lack of any consistency which is the main issue.

no point in sacking him,as i think the players would be hacked of with another change.
Fcuk them, they've lost all privileges as far as their opinions are concerned. It's their job to shut the fcuk up and do as they're told. Proposterous thought process!!!!

Completely agree.

The reason I think it's too late to get rid now is that I don't think we'd get anyone decent to take over the situation at this point. The players' views are irrelevant. They don't play wholeheartedly for Holloway or anyone else.

The situation is not fully in our own hands now - we have our mini league with Wednesday, Cov etc and I would have thought it's about 50/50 now. Next week should be the nearest thing that we get to a cert - but if we didn't beat Scunthorpe then I think we could just slip away.

I feel something is drastically wrong at city at the moment there seems to be no passion or fight there IH just doesnt seem to motivate the players at all i really like the guy BUT I'm not sure he his the man any more..............
BUT to be honest would swapping managers with 6 games to go really change what might be in any case Milan would probably bring in Ian Dowie NO THANKS or Billie Davies NO THANKS we need something drastic thou i fear the worse like so many of us do after todays inept performance.

A good manager can always bring the best out of team, no matter whether there are 6 games remaining or 36. That manager has to be tactical astute. The manager we have definately isn't that !
I don't believe it would harm any team to change manager this close to the end of the season, but, the owner would have to have someone ready to take over instantly after the manager was sacked, rather than spending weeks interviewing and making their minds up.

In any case, if the manager is underperforming and the owner(s) can't envisage any improvement for the following season, it would be better to bring in a new man who could then arrange his own pre season friendlies and prepare himself for the summer transfer window.

Well it was April 11th 2007 when Nigel Worthington took the position.
I still feel that we should leave IH in to the finish which ever way it goes.

I really at a loss as to why the team could not carry on the good form from last week.
Maybe Hull studied the WBA game and closed City out.
Disappointing all the same, i was sure of a point today.

Like several people on this board, I find it difficult to understand some of the team selections of our manager but, I, like most of the rest, did not complain at a similarly odd team for the game at WBA.
Can somebody help me, please with the other oft heard complaint? Several posts in this, and other threads, site Holloway for being unable to motivate the players. On the back of that win at Albion, what motivation was required? Those players should have gone out full of belief. It seems to me, that the problem is one of leadership on the field; nobody grabs hold of the team and shakes them during a match when things go wrong. This is particularly strange as we now have the captains of two of last seasons promoted teams. I am at a loss to explain it, but only see the team on rare occasions, can any of you more regular attenders share your insights?

You would think the prospect of a future playing in the third division would be motivation enough.

Sadly - I don't think this is the case.

The trend these days is towards quite massive turnovers of players. I would think that all those players who want to be out of the consequences of relegation will be able to do so. It's very difficult to keep any player who is wanted by another club and wants to leave....tho' as we know it's also difficult to get rid of the players who are surplus to requirements.

One of the biggest changes I have seen is the disappearance of a decent representation of local players from our club and other clubs. This trend has weakened the links between the players and the supporters and diminished a sense of loyalty by players.

You're assuming other clubs will want them - and will be able to afford their wages. Why would a club that can afford our wage levels want to sign our players, based on their performances this season?
