Those who dislike Martin Allen's approach so far. Go on. Convince me. Why am I a naive twat for loving the level of communication I am receiving from Martin Allen? If anyone says 'well, we'll see how he communicates when we have lost three-in-a-row' is full of shite. Don't want to hear it. Right now, why is it bad what we are getting from our manager in terms of committment and communcation? I want to be taught.

For me, the basic point is that Twaylor, Bassett, Adams, Levein, Kelly and even Worthington were all intensely boring and repetitive tosspots. Not one of them had an ounce of inspiration about them. After 7 years of listening to their shite, anything vaguely interesting or original is bound to get many of us excited. I can't even recall that lot put together making one signing that I've enjoyed. Not really. That's how shite it was.

Those that can't get a semi over the approach of Allen have simply been pushed too far into their coma. To be fair, another year of tedium and most of the rest of us would have been there with them.

Don't worry, after we carve apart Blackpool and trounce them 5-0, they'll wake up. Of course, if it's Blackpool that do the trouncing, Allen will be a royal **** like the rest of 'em.

So much pent up anger here - lol

At the end of the day we all want to see the players, the team and the manager succeed. What each of us define as success is on our own terms, but the bottom line is that we want to be successful. I'm very happy with the players that have been brought in, and the approach that MA has brought. It's potentially a new era for us - we have been debt riddled for far too long. It would have been interesting to give some of the "boring" managers MM's money to see how they would compare, but i honestly believe that MA will keep the players on their toes, will motivate them and keep them working for our club.

Ma is similar to Holloway and he manages to get some performances out of a bunch of feckless idiots, yet we have some quality....

I think we've been immensely lucky to draw Blackpool in our first game. They will work very very hard but I honestly believe that we should be able to beat them by a goal or two.

Bring it on - I can't wait!

I see it like this. MA has been good in the classroom so far but hasn't taken any exams yet. They start on August the 11th and until then we don't really know how his career is going to shape up. But if I was his teacher he'd have gone home with a good report card and optomidtic comments that he'll get good grades.

I'm not a teacher by the way.

not an english one anyway :icon_lol::icon_wink

I loved the way MA got to speak to Steve Bruce to finalise the DJ deal by putting on a scottish accent and pretending to be Alex Ferguson.
It was priceless :icon_bigg:icon_lol: As after having had his first call not put through as Bruce was "unavailable" MA wanted to get the deal finalised so decided on this unorthodox route.

I wonder if he can do a Martin O'Neil as well?:icon_bigg

Like it, BN.

One thing i find is that people were amazingly fast to attack kelly for his personality and post and pre game comments. They were also happy to say that the way he carried himself would probably affect the team and hence why we were shit. The same people however are not prepared to say that exact opposite about allen. That his approach is fresh optomistic and COULD affect the teams performance.

I find it funny how a managers negative and lackluster approach can affect the team on the pitch, but a possitive and pro active one doesnt count for a row of beans.

Spot on. The fact that he is so optomistic IS so infectious. He is not aloof from the team like Sven or Wenger, he is in their faces. The fact that he is also slightly wacky (Bruce phone call, hugging Elvis etc) cannot fail to get the team working hard for him. I very much get the impression he will never ask the team to do something he will not, whether its a 5.00am training session or swimming a river naked!

We could just be seeing the rebirth of the new 'Wimbledon Crazy Gang', except that we have talent as well! Everything so far suggests he can perform the same 'trick' that MON could, make donkeys believe they are racehorses, except that he is probably starting with more higher quality players than MON had. Most importantly when they come out for that first Blackpool game, are they really up for it? Do they really want to play out of their skins?

I regard myself as quite an 'intellectual' fan. If there is still a stereotype fan - 18-35yrs male, meets with a bunch of guys regularly in a pub at weekends, not just for matches etc, then I am a long way from that, but I absolutely love his style.

I know we are not going to win every match but if he keeps up his blogs through thick and thin then even losing will not be as painful as in previous years! The test will not be whether we lose, but when we do, how does MA react to it.

Wimbledon's much-maligned crazy gang had sufficient talent to win the FA Cup, which would do me fine.

If you're making the point that MA seems like a good manager, Wenger is a curious choice to contrast him with!

I like MA and, as long as people don't panic when we hit a bad run I think we'll do well with him.

I had reservations when he joined, but I'm loving it- I don't know if he motivates the players, but by god, he motivates me (with apologies to the Duke of Wellington)

I agree the real test is when we start playing league games.

Let's still not be too hasty in judging even then - we have had wholesale changes to the squad. It took MON quite a while to get things going (even though I think he started from a stronger base with what Little and McGee had achieved) and it was only two or three games from the end of our first season in the Prem that we were assured of staying up (and it will be a much harder job to stay up the next time we win promotion IMO).

It is going to be an interesting season, whatever happens.
