So CL got his men, Maybury should turn out to be a great signing for you and i wish him the best of luck and fortune in his move. He gave 100% every game. As for de Vreis, i can't really see him doing a great deal for you, he has been very inefective this season, his only real plus point being his 2 goals against Bragga. That said hope i hope he does well, he will always have a place in our history after scoring 4 goals in his home debut against our local rivals.

As for us we have apparently got 20 eastern block players over on trial, WTF is that all about.

Yeah. But surely Mark de Vries is better than Scowcroft, Blake, Benjamin, Dublin etc.

Too true,they aren't here yet....

I believe all that has to be discussed is personal terms. Things could still go pear shaped i guess, but it seems unlikely.

The only problem with you signing de Vreis is CL used to like playing him as a target man, so expect to see long balls punted up front. And he has been very injury prone.

If Scowcroft stays then I don't think De Vries is guaranteed a starting place,I'm not A Scowcroft fan but I think De Vries will need to prove he's better than Scowcroft where as at Hearts he was more or less guaranteed a start every match.

Can't beat a bit of competition. Might liven one or two of the buggers up 8)

de Vreis seems to have wrapped himself in cotton wool over the last month, his dream is to play in England and i can see him busting a gutt when/if he gets his chance. How he will react if his english career does not start favourably with at least a goal or two in his first few games i dont know. He should be upto providing competition amongst your other forwards though.

At least with the signing of these two players will freshen the squad up and also mean Levein can start to play the type of football that he wants.

People are saying that De Vries had lost interest at Hearts and obviously had set his heart on following CL down here, perhaps that is why Scowy has been so poor recently, mind on other clubs etc.

Would not be surprised to see another 2 or 3 players in if enough of the dead wood can be moved on.

Pure speculation, but Webbo said (on another thread) another player was on way out and Canero who was on the bench on Saturday, was not there today, just wondering whether he could be one of the players to move on.

hope this goes through, cl is starting to get together the players he feels will gel together. we won't recognise our squad come the new season in august and provided he keeps us mid table at least for this one, i think 2005/6 could be the season for us.

I can't say I've seen Mark de Vries much, but how well did this guy play under Levein?

I heard alot of good things about him last season. I noticed he's scores against the big teams aswell & in europe.

ScottishFineWine: Do you think Maybury can cut it in the Premier League?

is de vreis at all quick? scowys lack of pace was painfully shown up today - a couple of times there were opportunites for through balls but we didnt go for it cos the player looked up saw it would be scowy chasing and knew there would be no point

Well it is difficult to tell how well any player will play in different leagues, but i feel Maybury is upto it. He has been one of the most commited players in the SPL over the last few years and he will certainly give any club he is at 100%. Quite simply put, for £30.000 you have a total steal.
