I guess this is Tunchev's chance while he's away, unless we NP gets another defender in.

Wonder whether one of the academy players like Taft will be given a go after Moore's inclusion vs Palace. Would be great to see more of the youngsters given a chance, especially as it's a cup game (I know, I know, it's against Forest).

Sol Bamba said he won't play International football again because of the risk to his family back in the Ivory Coast. Last time he played, and I think they lost, his family were threatened by 'unhappy fans'. Apparently their Manager has tried to talk him around, but Sol seemed pretty firm in his view.
If its true, it will be our gain and their loss.

How much power does the international manager have? Just seen on the BBC's football site that the Ivory Coast manager has not give permission for the Toure brothers to play in the FA cup and that they will consequently miss the match.

Surely if they want to play for Man City, it's up to them?

Nope, the players involved in the African Cup of Nations are supposed to report to their respective squads two weeks before the tournament starts. You have to get special dispensation otherwise.

Maybe Taft will get a chance in the cup, but not the league

If I was Mancini, I'd just withdraw them from international duty, or strongly advise them not to go themselves. At the end of the day, playing for your country is great and it's a privilege, but it shouldn't come at the cost of doing the job you get paid about £150,000 a week for (in their case). If you're a manager you live and die by results - you can't afford to lose a key player you've paid over £20 million for.

Pretty sure the clubs have absolutely no say in this. Also pretty sure the players themselves look forward to this competition and wouldn't react too kindly to just being pulled out. Their hands are tied in every way here.

Peltier has played at centre back - probably Pantsil too

Moreno is still here, I think, as is Michael Ball

And St Ledger hasn't actually left yet. If we are paying him what we are rumoured to be paying him, then he can feckin' well turn out, can't he ?

Plus the transfer window is now open, and we don't play a League game for nine days

Move along now, nothing to see here

But if the bust-up with Pearson is correct, is SSL likely to show any Pashun, even if picked, which seems unlikely?

Unless SSL sees it as putting himself in the shop window. But then again NP not the forgiving type so not likely we will see SSL again.
Could be we will see Peltier there with Moore RB Tunch on the bench with 6 others (I assume 7 subs in the FA Cup) so possibly Taft could be there as well

The clubs are paid compensation for their contracted players, it's only a percentage in most cases because of the very daft wages clubs are willing to pay.

Moore is cup-tied, isn't he?

the players have to join up with the squad 14 days before the tournament which kicks off on 21 January, so Bamba could play and leave after the game

Which means he'd get there by the 8th at the earliest, which isn't 14 days before the start of the tournament.:icon_wink
