A loan switch for Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumaré to La Liga side Sevilla has been agreed, subject to league approval.

The 24-year-old moved to Filbert Way from Lille in July 2021, and helped the Club to victory in the Community Shield final over Manchester City in August 2021.

He has made 59 appearances for the Foxes and will now spend the 2023/24 campaign at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

The Spanish outfit are next in league action on Sunday 3 September when they travel to Atlético Madrid.

Amazing how badly this signing turned out. Was very highly rated and looked a brilliant signing on paper.

But up there with Inler, Adrien Silva etc as as midfielder who just never adapted to the pace and energy of the lwague

Best of luck to him. Leicester Cify, the Premier League, and I think English football in general doesn’t suit his style. That’s not his fault. I hope he’s a success and goes on to have a very good career. In the right league and the right team I think he can be a very good player.

Totally agree. He'll probably do great in Spain where the pace of the game is different.

Is there an option to buy? I know it works both ways, but if a player goes on loan and does particularly well, it obviously puts a ceiling on the price you could then sell for.

What a ****ing car crash of a signing.

That's not the fault of Soumare though. He is what he is.

The problem was us recruiting a player who needed time on the ball to be effective when we were in a league where such time doesn't exist. We also clearly failed to do our background on him as a personality as he struggled to settle and really didn't have the right character to adapt here.

It's all on Congerton in my opinion.

Totally agree, like you say he was t completely the wrong character. Something we used to excel at was getting the right personalities in the squad.

Loan though. If they don’t make it permanent later does the bad smell return or does he have years left on his contract?
