Strange one this. Like most people, I thought that our problems would come from a lack of decent strikers but, it sounds as if the defence was poor.
If our good defensive record was down to playing three central defenders, then we're in a mess.

Well I couldn't make it to the match today - so I wouldn't presume to comment on the details - but I'm sure you are right (as usual) HF.

I hope that people will now shut up about the play offs. That is not going to be remotely possible. No manager is going to get spectacular results from this squad. We've had a succession of very different types of managers - but the results remain consistently poor.

What I have seen tells me for sure that we do not have the players to chase a game. Unfortunately, the recruitment this summer was very, very poor in terms of mid fielders, wingers and strikers. I actually think it would be a waste of money to try to go into a big January recruitment because the significantly better players are not likely to want to sign for us at this point.

I think we all have to be very patient; allow Holloway to try to improve on what we have; accept that mid table would be an excellent achievement and that could provide a foundation for summer recruitment. I hope the gates hold up in the meantime in order to maintain morale and help with longer term recruitment. I wouldthink that even Milan realises now where we are and why we are there.
