I think we do need a new left back. Last season Nigel liked to use Berner in midfield a lot of the time. Also if Berner is injhured there is no one except Chris Powell. While I have a lot of admiration for Chris Powell I see him as a player to be brought on for the later stages of the game to calm things down. A thirty nine year old cannot be expected to play successive 90 minutes.
I had hoped that we would have brought in Tom Cleverley on loan by now. I wonder whether we are looking to bring in another goalkeeper or whether Nigel is happy to have Conrad Logan as number two.

I would've thought we weren't in for him then - I'm sure he came out and said he had a great time here with us last season and even came back to see us lift the League 1 Trophy. So I can't see why he wouldn't come here? Maybe Watford could guarantee him a starting spot and we couldn't?

I suspect that would be a non-negotiable string attached by Ferguson to a loan agreement, and it would be tough competition to displace Wellens and Oakley.

Yet he didn't start every game when he was here in Div 3. Do you really think that Fergie would let them rest on their laurels like that so they get in no matter how they play? Not the Man Utd way imo - not only do they need skill, they need fight and determination too.
