He played second half last night at Holmes Park. Quick winger with lots of little tricks.
Did you watch many games last season? In quite a few, Vardy was up front on his own with Nugent in the deeper role he has been playing this year too. He did very well on his own up there. His leap for headers is better than his height would suggest, he competes for the ball superbly, chases defenders down, brings wide men into the game, etc. He will be the first choice to play in that role if Ulloa isn't in the team. And quite right too. If you want to exploit his pace to the maximum, you play him on the opposition's last defender.
To get both Ulloa and Vardy into the starting line up, we'll either need to play two strikers (unlikely) or play him on the left of the three attacking midfielders, which is where he's played as sub so far. I get this, but it isn't the best use of him.
Overall, I'd bet that he plays more minutes of the season as a lone striker than anything else this season.
Interestingly within your point though you mentioned Nugent dropped back for many of these games to play a deeper role, but have not included him in your second starting XI to play in behind. Seems logical to me to suggest you didn't rate this partnership highly?
I give up. You win, I'm a fool.
Why don't you?I really want to...........
