Not really. From the day it was built it had a huge loan attached, so in name it may have been in the ownership of the club, but there was a sodding great mortgage attached.

We still owe the money for the stadium. The only difference in debt is who we owe it to.

The benefit is that the rent will be negligible.

Also gives the Thais a hold over the club should hey wish/have to sell.

If they choose to walk while we are a championship club they will never get the money they have spent back. The club will only turn a profit for them if we have consistent Premier League money for quite a few seasons. Since the stadium still isn't actually owned by the club, this won't make us any more attractive to sell on.
