*cough*

The correct term is 'arsey old feckpig'. Please try to get it right. I've already made the badge and I don;t want to have to change it!

mardy, indeed!!!!
:icon_cry:

I remember on his debut (i think) he had a big punch up and it went off the pitch and he was red carded, think it was against Millwall?

He debuted at Portsmouth. The events you otherwise correctly describe came a couple of months later.

Agnew who, following a late challenge from Dawes near the tunnel, went completely mad and started throwing punches at Millwall players left, right and centre. He was eventually restrained by both benches, both teams, police and stewards. At least it was a short walk to the bath when he was shown the red card. (from The Fox)

I seem to remember that at least one player fell into the family enclosure during the melee and the Leicester bench were trying to get Agnew subbed off before he was sent off - but they were too late.

The Millwall fans were really going for it in Pen1 and there was certainly a lot of trouble in the region of the Rugby ground and Mandela Park afterwards - though I think that was our lot more than theirs.

Months later? maybe a month later.

It was 1 month and 25 days later - near enough to "a couple of months" for me. The Millwall game was his sixth for the club.

I dont mean anything News of the Worldish, such as mid 70's roasting sessions,
but anything.....Chris Garland IMO is still up there as one of our best forwards. John Farrington was a fabulous winger, AH those were the days

Garland was with us for less than 2 years - only did one full season. He and Jeff Blockley came to us at about teh same time and the pair of them seemed to give us the enthusiasm to hang on to our first division status at teh end of the 74/75 season, Garland scoring 8 goals in 10 games in the proceess - not bad for 95 grand!!

Oddly enough neither of them managed 90 minutes in the first game of the following season; Garland was sent off and Blockley carried off with City finishing the game with 9 men because the sub was already on (yes, just one sub then). Birmingham were twice in the lead during the game, but had to settle for a draw despite City's lack of numbers. This was the season when we didn't win any of our first 15 games but still managed to finish in the top half of the top division.

Lost his place to Steve Earle soon after the start of the following season and when Bristol City offered £110,000 to get him back, we said "goodbye".

John Farrington was earlier. About 140 games in 4 seasons from 69 to 73. Farrington on one wing, Glover on the other - lots of quick breaks and both of them used to score goals as well as providing the centres for, such as, Rodney Fern, Ally Brown and, later, Frank Worthington.

Did you see the Chris Garland thread that I started last December? The first post has a link from which you can view a BBC stream which is still available.
