I think giving any player in their mid 30s an extended contract when their current contract hasn't run out is madness. Berner and Howard both have another year to run - why bother giving out more at this stage?
 
Taking Howard out of our team is like taking Xavi or Iniesta out of Barcelona's, it just can't happen.
 
If the 'squillions' are not coming from a multinational take over, then keeping Howard for another season makes sense but I can't believe he will be offered an extension.

Should we have a successful season and make the Premiership, who would think Howard has the legs for that?

What?! Based on what exactly? I think he's a decent player, and definitely want him to still be here next season, but to claim he is the heartbeat of our team is plain mental.

Fryatt looked 10 times more likely to both create and score last season. Howard was simply a solid target man in every game (excluding Cardiff).
