Interestingly, they are discussing our academy on TalkSport with Dean Hammond at the minute and singing our praises for how we bridge the gaps between academy and first team better than most.

Can you name a player who hasn't been given a chance with us whilst coming up through the academy, who then went on to forge a fantastic career at the top level?

I would argue that our academy today is of a different standard to that of our history, as such it is unfair to compare our current crop to 20 years ago. We do have a high quality youth setup these days however as we have seen through the emergence of several future stars.

Precisely... if they are good enough, therefore, they will make it here and then kick on or be sold for a steaming great profit.
