Steve Walsh says that there is a team in this squad: I don't agree. I think that we have more quality players than last season, but I don't see a team. We have not had a decent midfield since the days of Lennon, Izzet and Savage. I rate Clemence but he is swamped and to make up for lack of strength, we play full-backs in the place of wingers. No wonder we're not scoring we don't get enough decent balls in.
On the bright side, delighted for Matty Fryatt: one area that I had serious doubts with Marin Allen was the lack of chance for Fryatt.

I will add this though - MDV was rubbish, is rubbish, and I see no evidence to suggest he won't always be rubbish.

Quite a good result actually. Questionable initial tactics and Kaebi's repeated exclusion rankles a bit. Megson needs to get Weso back as soon as possible if we're to have any chance of climbing up the table.

First half was woeful. No width, no pace and no penetration from three attackers! Clemence had to hold a midfield almost on his own and Carl Cort was awful.

Second half to be fair was better and Megson must have demanded that we get more balls in the box. Hume targeted their left back and Mattock got forward more which made us look more threatening.

Ratings:

Fulop 6 - Didn't see too much that impressed me. He flapped a couple of times.
N'Gotty 7 - Probably our best player. Distribution isn't the best though.
McAuley 4 - Shit
Kisnorbo 6 - Didn't do too much wrong
Stearman 5 - Passing was rubbish
Mattock 6 - Score of 6 is made up almost entirely from second half performance. First half he was nowhere.
Clemence 7 - Seeked the ball but passing was wayward at times
Chambers 5 - Not good
Cort 3 - Shit
DeVries 2 - Shitter
Campbell 3 - Completely different player to what I thought he was. Shit.

Subs:

Hume 7 - Made the difference
Fryatt 6 - Took goal well but didn't do much else
Kishishev 5 - Did his job

Not Defending MDV but i thought Cort was the worst player on the pitch today, contributed absolutely nothing today. Of the 3 strikers at least MDV moved, Cort and Campbell had velcro shoes.

Stearman frightens me, simple things he manages to cock up. He doesn't look like a footballer any more.

Chambers was out of posistion, so i won't critisise him, but Megson is an idiot for putting him in midfield, he cannot play there.

Second half, things improved because of the movement of fryatt creating space, and humes determination in the attacking midfielder role enabled us to build some pressure. credit to both of them IMO

N'Gotty and Kisnorbo looked reasonably solid IMO.

Clemence tried but needed some support in midfield.

Mattock was the source of most of our (limited) attacking play. Nothing outstanding though.

All in all a dismall performance, better second half, but if we can't beat Stoke at home, we will not achieve anything.
