trong Reserve Side To Take On Vale
Posted on: Mon 10 Sep 2007

Leicester City caretaker manager Jon Rudkin has named a strong reserve side to face Port Vale at the Marston's Stadium this evening (7pm).

Portuguese international winger Marco Ferreira and Danish striker Adda Djeziri, who joined the club on transfer deadline day, are both named in the starting line up for the Pontin's Central Reserve League clash.

And City supporters will also be able to see a host of other first team squad members in action on the night - including Carl Cort, Matty Fryatt, Shaun Newton, Hossein Kaebi, Darren Kenton, Joe Mattock and Richard Stearman.

Admission on the night is just £3 for adults and £1 for under 16s on the night. Junior Foxes go free!

Highlights of the game will be available from 10:30am on the morning after the game.

City squad: Nielsen, Kaebi, Mattock, Newton, Stearman, Kenton, Ferreira, King, Cort, Fryatt, Djeziri, Beswick, Cisak, McKay, Sappleton, Magunda.

Seems a bit stupid they've said that Ferreira and Djeziri have been named in the starting lineup... but then doesn't list the starting lineup.
Presumably though it's

Nielsen
Kaebi, Stearman, Kenton, Mattock
Newton, King, Magunda?, Ferreira
Djeziri, Cort/Fryatt

Does seem a strong team, most of them likely to figure regularly in the first team this season.

Thanks Notts.

Just read the match report. Cort off at half time. Was he injured? :102:

Foxes Stunned By Vale Comeback
Posted on: Mon 10 Sep 2007

Steve Beaglehole's side were denied back-to-back Pontin's League victories as Port Vale came from three down to snatch a point at the Marston's Stadium on Monday night.

New recruits Marco Ferreira and Adda Djeziri and were introduced to the starting line-up, and the home side found themselves two ahead with goals from Matty Fryatt and Shaun Newton inside twenty minutes.

The Foxes had chances to extend their lead but Carl Cort was unable to connect with a near post Matty Fryatt header, and moments later Andy King watched his curling effort edge wide of the post.

City found the net for a third time two minutes after the break with Shaun Newton drilling home from the edge of the penalty area.

But Port Vale fought their way back in the game and within ten minutes had reduced the deficit to a single goal, Luke Rogers claiming both efforts.
The striker then helped himself to a hat-trick in the dying moments as a converted penalty denied Leicester victory.

City: Cisak, Kaebi, Mattock, Newton, Stearman, Kenton, Ferreira (Magunda 75), King, Cort (Sappleton 45), Fryatt, Djeziri (McKay 81)
Unused Subs: Beswick, Pentney

Stearman and Kenton were ripped apart numerous times by Rodgers (who is a first teamer)

Kaebi looks very good - great piece of skill and good cross to Mattock who whacked the bar. Very strange penalty given against him - a rarity - Kaebi tried some scissors kick and the pen was given for high foot - correct opinion but a strange 'un.

Ferreira took a while to get into the game - really couldn't tell much with the pace of the game.

King looks a very good player if raw.

Djeziri very poor man Ronaldo - all skills and flicks with no end product

Cort ok-ish never really tested

Fryatt whenever he got the ball he was a different class - set up 2 goals and scored another.

Very slow game - akin to the first of pre-season and it looked to me Port Vale played a fair few first teamers (maybe had an international break?)

Thanks for that. ;)

Apparently Djeziri did some nice work down the left flank before sending over a good cross for Fryatt's goal ... It's disappointing to be three up only to concede three though ... I thought looking at the line-up that we had chosen an attacking team but one that seemed defensively fragile ... :icon_cool
