Goal for King for City but Campbell (Frazer) and Henderson scored at the start of each half.

Good performance mostly in the first half

What was it like from the guys who were there?

One of the Ultras (aka Fosse Boys) on at the moment on RL

Lovely stuff first half and then Sunderland started closing down.

Back four looked stretched at times. Morrison and Hobbs caught far too square with Sunderland route one working. Campbell looked very sharp, Fryatt not far behind and
I thought Oakley was spot on.

Watched the goals on Skysports, the goal was immense, well worked and by the sounds of it on the radio we created a load of chances! If we can keep a clean sheet and continue in this form that we are doing in creating chances and scoring goals, we could be one of the maor teams fighting for one of the top 4 spots!

Very positive on the ball, we looked comfortable and keen to play, very pleasing.

DJ looked fantastic very lively, Fryatt and Oakley also played well as did Morrison. Weale looked very shakey, also thought N'Guessan looked a handful.

DJ gave the Sunderland defence all sort of problems and Steve Bruce spent much of the match shouting at his centrebacks. I was surprised how much trouble Dany gave premiership defenders.
If West Ham were watching Weale they will have given up on him. Any professional goalkeeper should have saved that second goal.
The number of substitutes made the second half meaningless but the firsthalf augured well.

It was good to see how well Steve Bruce worked with the young autograph hunters.

Pleasing in all. I'm not sure what it is about me and friendly matches but I seem to attract some proper mongs to sit near me. The one behind me earlier said nothing apart from how great Ched Evans is(WTF?) and that we should be winning because Bramble is shit. Also didn't really see the point in booing Neilson and giving Waghorn a standing ovation. The same happened at the end, our players were largely ignored, Waghorn got a hero's farewell.

Weale - 5 - Made a couple of good saves at Bent's feet but made a rash decision to rush out which was nearly punished and let in a bit of a shtuma in the second half.

Lamey - 6 - Too high on the goal, which looked offside but settled in and looked good going forward. Neilson was fine as his replacement.

Hobbs - 6 - Solid enough, both he and Moz got caught out by Bent but they're hardly going to be players of his quality every week. Some sharp passes into the midfield and started some moves out from the back, one of e=which lead to our goal.

Moz - Same as Hobbs, apart from one incident when he trod on the ball and nearly let Campbell in.

Berner - 7 - Good, strong and didn't give it away much.

N'Guessan - 6 - Ready for another season of him blowing hot and cold. Quick and strong, just let down by his touch more often than not.

Oakley - 7 - He looked very comfortable in centre mid and seems suited to the style.

King - 7 - Good box to box play, awarded an extra mark for a lovely goal.

Dyer - 6 - Quiet but I like the look of his switching with Dany, they occasionally doubled up which was exciting. Had a one on one but tried to round the 'keeper and fluffed it.

Fryatt - 6 - Didn't fasion may chances but did have a lovely run and through ball for King's goal. He looks close to full fitness, he certainly didn't get brushed off by bigger, stronger players.

Campbell - 7 - The guy looks a totally different player to the DJ of 3 years ago, he took some good set pieces, battled for the ball, had a cracking effort tipped over. He seemed to be dropping very deep and then running at people, which worked although there wasn't much link up between him and Fryatt. He has the look of a confident player.

Howard came on and gave us a new option, nearly scored with a fizzing turn and shot on the edge of the box. wellens also came on and did his thing, picking up where Oakley left off. Verma looked ****ing useless and the rest of the youngsters didn't really get to make an impact.

.

I am worried by Ted's use of the word "shtuma". Like our new Slovenian striker is seems to have mislaid a vowel somewhere. Weale was involved with "a bit of a shtuma" (surely there should be a letter between the h and the t) and this was clearly bad. If it had been "a lot of a shtuma" would this have been better or worse. Does a massive great "shtuma" make a goalkeeper a Shilton or a Kalac?

Hopefully Ted or some other poster will explain the word.

I read that Paulo S is supposed to be a defence based manager and therefore I find it a little worrying that our defence seems shaky at the moment.
It's a good job we can score goals.

Let's hope we can In the league!

A 'shtuma' is a word Mark Lawerson uses on the commentary of a video game, to describe a goalkeeping error. I'm affraid I don't know the origins of the word, it may even be a neologism on Lawro's part. I use it quite often and forget that most other people have no idea what I'm talking about.

You done goofed. Don't ever use the words of the Lawro.
Consequences... will never... be... the same!

I think Robin Friday had the best idea when addressing Lawro.

I thought we looked the better side for most of the game. Funniest thing for me was when Waghorn was warming up and someone told him he had the wrong shirt on!

DJ was outstanding, the defence was ok, but got caught by Bent's pace at times. Their left back was a dirty b*****d who should have been sent off.

I thought King and Oakley disappeared at times and that we looked better when Wellens came on. N'Guessan and Dyer looked threatening.

I thought some of the youngsters looked ok when they came on later, but the young player who impressed me most was Tom Parkes who came on for Hobbs. Isn't he a beast? He looked like a younger version of Gerry Taggart, but bigger and uglier. The first thing he did was to take the ball from Kenwyne Jones and leave him flat on his face.

Despite the fact that we lost there are a lot of positives to be taken from this game.

:038: Love it. :081:

One other thing to point out is that Paulo Sousa got into an argument with the 4th official and the referee half way through the second half of a pre-season friendly. This man is passionate about his football.
