Good start today shame to see another dismissal in the 80s! O'Brien now with new zealand which is a blow. Du toit in for Allenby and Smith for Cobb. Personally don't rate Du Toit at all so would have liked them to move Cobb to the middle order instead.

Great effort, picking up a few first innings points today. Good scores for everyone apart from Boyce who was run out.

Needed these runs as well, seeing as Ramps is going to get his usual 100 against us tomorrow!

Full batting points with only 5 wickets down :038:

Second ton of the season for Taylor, hope he is on a fairly long contract :icon_conf

100 not out :icon_wink

Leics have declared, 593 for 5

Happy to be wrong for once :icon_bigg

What a batting performance by Taylor, Du Toit and the rest :038:

I would guess the youngest double centurion for County. I'm just a bit worried they batted on for the personal milestones, I hope not as the forecast isn't great. But we can just focus on getting 20 wickets in around 7 sessions now, and it doesn't matter if Ramps gets another ton against us!

Ramprakash 271 not out, in a partnership currently standing at 401!

With nothing to play for he could well hit 400+ today, you heard it here first.......

Out for 274. You can thank me for that. :icon_bigg

First championship wicket for Nathan Buck

We can also thank the Oval groundsman for producing a wicket so flat that so far there have been 7 wickets plus a run out to -date.

There are so many things wrong with the way that county cricket is run including what i understand is a crazy plan to re-process the FPT into a 2inningsx 25/ 2innings x 25 format, and for Surrey to produce no-contest wickets is another one.

Obviously not pretty to see but the facts are that the bonus points system benefits, even encourages teams just getting full bonus points draws. Neither attacks were good enough to do any damage, although it shouldn't take away from the fact that Taylor scored a double hundred at 19!

I wonder if this is the type of wicket they'll prepare for the test match?

Traditionally good batting track.. but faster & more bounce than most. However, this summer being particularly wet, I can see it being a flat, dead track.

This means that the Headingly Test is key for Australia. Given reasonable weather this should be a result wicket and give them a chance of retaining the Ashes.

From the official site :038:
http://www.leicestershireccc.co.uk/lc/News/Taylor-in-top-five

James Taylor has become the fifth youngest batsman in England to make a double century in first-class cricket.
The 19-year-old is in excellent company, given WG Grace, Graeme Hick and David Sales are also in the top five in a list compiled by Wisden.
Edward Craig completes the list, and Taylor's 207* also ensured he became the second youngest Englishman in the history of the County Championship to achieve the feat behind David Sales.

He was mentioned in the Times today as one to watch for the 2013 Ashes. I'm sure he'll be long gone from Grace Road by then :icon_roll
