Albrigthon was poor, even by his waning standards. And, along with Fuchs, one of our worst hoofball offenders.

We'd be playing confidently out of defence until they pulled one back and we started shitting ourselves. I thought King would play an attacking midfield role, to take up the space that Okazaki was leaving. It is his most natural position after all... but he all but disappeared. It all contributed to us just gifting possession with hopeful upfield punts.

very good.

King is getting some really unfair criticism on here for me. Aside a pull back which wasn’t perfect, he did fine and actually his close passing was a joy to watch at times in the middle.

He’s not my favourite but today he did ok

I can barely recall a pass of his that reached one of his teammates.

Promise I did.. from the prawn seats he didn’t do much wrong.

But look, let’s move from being negative about Andy’s performance. Let’s talk about Iborra and just how good he was today, what a player.. first half he was imperious.

As has been said, Iborra was excellent today, especially in the first half. If he can do it every week (even on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke) he will be a great asset to the team.

Just proves once again that there’s not much wrong with our 442 and that these players are capable of turning up if they’re in the right mood.

The challenge now is finding a manager who can inspire them to performances like that on a weekly basis.

Afraid not.

Swansea were and are diabolical. As has already been proven for well over a season, we can't play it and get results against anyone remotely decent, not consistently.

Second half they seriously pushed us, anyone with an ounce of ability more than likely cracks us.

All is not solved.

Great result and one I wasn't expecting, fair play to Appleton for getting a positive performance out of the players. Our second goal was a wonderful move maybe with Appleton in charge, who likes to play football we can find the right mix and balance in style that will get the best out of this squad.

More or less what I was saying, but accidentally put in the wrong thread. I'm perhaps the only one who thought we played quite well against West Brom, and weren't significantly better yesterday, but with a much better result. The main difference being that we performed best in the second half against West Brom, and in the first half yesterday.

Why is it always raining on Tuesday nights in Stoke?

To be fair the cliche only asks if player x can do it on a wet Tuesday night at Stoke.

The implication being that player x would have no problem doing it on a dry, calm or even balmy Tuesday night at Stoke.

Second half they seriously pushed us

That's how I saw it too.

Reading match reports, I read silly stuff of us being like the team of old, getting back to our best. That the 2nd half showed us as defensively resolute as before. I wonder if the reviewers had watched the game or simply written a review based on the score and match highlights.

I saw us frantically defending and unable to move the ball away from danger. A more capable side than Swansea could have ripped us to shreds because we'd fallen apart... again.

We looked good first half against a piss poor opposition. WBA were far more organised and threatening. Obviously I'm thankful for the points, and the confidence that the result will bring but I see no swallows let alone the beginnings of a summer. The new manager will have work to do.
