Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded autumn/winter 2017/18 rumours thread

Except that the Club have put a £50million price on him, so there will be lots of rejected bids before the Club takes anyone seriously.
Can't imagine that any club anywhere is going to pay £50million for Mahrez. If Leicester insist on demanding £50 million , Mahrez/his advisors will likely regard this as blocking a move. I can see that this would be a contractual right for the club, but I doubt if in practice this would be sustainable at a practical level. Can't see Mahrez delivering the goods against that background. If anyone offers £30 million or thereabouts, I would take it and think that in the circumstances we had done tolerably well.

I suspect that unless Mahrez enlivens himself in the next few weeks, the club will have to and be happy to accept much less.

Are we still pretending top clubs want Mahrez?

They dont

If he goes for less than the club got for Drinkwater ........ ......

I think he probably will.

The club got a generous amount for DD because Chelsea wanted it nailed. They paid what they needed to as they did when they stuffed Leicester re Kante.... but the few clubs who might have entertained the idea of paying the likes of £50 million for Mahrez will have lowered their offer range or dropped out because his form has dropped from his magic season.

I can completely understand that supporters may harbour hopes that this will all end in Mahrez staying but I can't see any chance of that. In fact sad to say I think Mahrez is now part of the list of serious problems facing the club rather than being part of the solution.

We need a fresh start including new leadership in the key management/ development posts and a partial clear out of the old guard of players but I hope this doesn't involve relegation in the process.

I suspect that unless Mahrez enlivens himself in the next few weeks, he will have to accept that the clubs he wants to play for won't want to sign him.

I suspect that he is already having to look quite a way down his wish list.

He's got plenty of time to check trip advisor ratings for Costa coffee in and around the North Circular area. wouldn't want to spend a full day in January at one if the macaroons aren't up to scratch.
