The hysterically annoying and totally unfounded, but traditional, January 2025 rumours thread.

need that plonker from Palace to be gone
Baring a miracle, I don't see that happening.

Best chance, freak training ground accident for one of CP's strikers leads to a recall. But then that would leave us next to no time to get a replacement.

We could always just sign another striker anyway and, depending on squad size, just put OE on gardening leave. We don't have the PSR wiggle room to do that though I suspect.

In short, we're stuck with him.

It's a big no to Lamptey from me.

There's a reason Brighton are letting him go. He's injured more than he's fit and that's been the case for several years.

He's also too small in an era when that sort of thing is highly exploitable in a defender.

Didn’t realise he was very injury prone. That being the case, I’d prefer a CB, winger and striker.

When Lamptey is fit he's brilliant, at one stage Chelsea wanted him back, that is until they found out he's made from paper-mache and wallpaper paste

If Brighton aren't renewing his contract theres a very good reason for it.

Games played in the league since 2021/2022 season:

Lamptey 78
Justin 72
Coulibaly 88
Kristiansen 80

His stats are in line with our other FBs in terms of availablity. The problem is his trajectory in the last 3 seasons:

Games played: 30, 20, 9 (2 goals and 2 assists in those 9 however).

It may not be a problem though. I remember saying we should have brought in Mings when we had a chance (according to the press at the time) and his injury record was cited as a reason not to. He has been consistent and exceptional for Villa since then.

I think if we have the chance to get him in, at 24 the possible reward outweighs the risk. We'd be mad not to go for him of there was a cut price deal to be had.

Unfortunately, I think he'll go somewhere a bit less likely to be fighting for survival.

You're being very selective there.

He signed for Brighton five years ago on Friday.

In those five years, he's started 52 out of 190 PL games.
