Nice bit of PR there.

He's ****ed off, missed all the training and 2 important games.

Regardless of his so called statement, he's already let us down big time.

Realised it's backfired Mahrez? Trying to save face Mahrez?

Sod you lot. I say welcome back Riyad

Desperation really does make us look small time.

I understand the desire to see decent players in the shirt.

But this shit weasel has made it abundantly clear he couldn't wait to trade it in for another.

I knew he'd be back with a pathetic statement to try and get the fans back on side, it's just too easy these days to be a selfish, overpaid wanker of a footballer.

About time fans made more of a stance for their club rather than individual, wantaway players just because they might be decent at kicking the ball.

**** modern, entitled footballers who think they are above the teams they supposedly represent, I'm LCFC, not Riyad Mahrez.

No, your attitude is what is small time. You're hankering for a world that no longer exists.

He's our best player for fecks sake. He's as good a player as our club has ever had. For fecks sake man, we'll be a long time without him. Just love him while he's here.

Ego or no ego. Toys and pram and all that shit aside. He's Riyad Mahrez. And right now, he's our Riyad Mahrez.

Excellent. You were clamouring for the club to release a statement or for Mahrez to explain himself and now that both of these things are done and happen to contradict all the other bollocks in the tabloids you've chosen to believe, it's a PR stunt.

I don't really give two flying friggers what has or hasn't happened really, we have our best player available for selection again. Watching us against Everton and Swansea should be enough for anyone to want him back in the starting eleven as soon as possible.

So any player that shows a desire to leave is a 'turncoat' a 'wanker' and/or a 'weasel'? For **** sake, the real world is available for you to view in UHD if you look for it.

Everyone has the right to try and better themselves no matter what they do or how much they earn. It's ****ing crass to suggest that because he has shown a desire to play at a higher level and fulfil his potential that he is in some way 'entitled'. He is doing what most ambitious people on Earth want to do; become the best at the thing he loves doing.

There are lots of reasons you may not like him or may want to see him elsewhere and some of them may be more valid than others but they shouldn't be based solely on the fact (the only one you know) that he wanted a move to test himself atbthe highest possible level.

Pop, I don’t think that is Lako’s point.

If o understand correctly he (as I) is disappointed at Riyad’s attitude (the second time mind) to not getting what he has wanted.

The ins and outs of what has gone on is unlikely to be totally unveiled but what is for certain is Mahrez has been disingenuous not only to his employee who pay handsomely for his services but Alessia - and arguably more importantly to us the fans.

He has behaved like a child who has failed to get a PlayStation on Christmas Day.

I mean really, I thought you of all people would be able to see the difference between a player who wants to better himself and one who drags his current club through a load of shit for his personal gains.

Kante wanted to better himself so he had a contract that allowed it to happen without making himself look like a spoilt little arsehole.

I pay my money and I attend every single home game, I'll reserve my right to dig out disrespectful individuals who through their actions and selfish behaviours put my club in a position where it is ridiculed and told to give in to the bigger sides.

I'll be here long after Mahrez has got his wish.

I am glad he is back. Happy that he has travelled with the squad. Hope he plays well tomorrow if he gets on the pitch.

Once I heard this morning that he had returned I felt the gloom of depression had been lifted.

I bet it has had a beneficial effect on our players and that they are pleased to have him around again.

I forgive him.

Frank Worthington would rather have played for Liverpool, but had to settle for Leicester. Doesn’t make him less of a legend, even if he won feck all for us.

There is no loyalty on any side in football anymore. The days of one club players, travelling to matches on the local bus, drinking in the pub with supporters are long, long gone. Managers are binned off for one win in ten, but equally they leave when a better offer comes along (Heckingbotham to Leeds). Players pursue the bigger contract, bigger club and better pay, but equally they are binned off after a few bad performances and criticism from supporters. It’s all about one thing. Money. Clubs are desperate for the riches of the PL whilst players have a short career and want the lucrative contracts. It’s not just in the PL - Hartlepool, on the verge of being wound up in the non-League, have a weekly wage bill of £20k. In the non-League. I don’t blame Mahrez for wanting it all. I don’t condone his behaviour but it’s symptomatic of all that’s wrong in football. Unfortunately it will only stop when the money stops......which it won’t as there’s always another Rupert Murdoch in waiting.

Yup. Money talks and that extra place higher in the league will be worth more than self respect could ever be worth. At least we'll show them once and for all that one player is greater than the club, putting to bed that old saying.

That would be a credible point of view if you didn't have a history of slagging off King at any possible opportunity.

It just looks like you believe fans can be venal bastards who want success but players can't be?

Mahrez our best player, ever, and we should welcome him back with open arms.
Bollox, is all I will say to that.

You're hankering for a world that no longer exists
<snip>
And right now, he's our Riyad Mahrez.

The contradiction in those 2 statements made me chuckle.

"Our" Mahrez? The last 10 days have shown he's very much his own Riyad Mahrez. That's the new era football, with all its token badge kissing.
