India really are pathetic at sports, a 1/5th of the worlds population and they only come back with one gold medal.

I believe I heard it's their first EVER individual gold medal.

I can't see why anyone would find this funny.

They won 3 medals all together which is more than we won at the last winter games.

The fact that their is no money being pumped into the sport in India is where the problem lies. I bet they have some great athletes that havent been funded and can't afford to travel to China or where ever.

Just look at their cricket team, there is money and sponsorship in the cricket league and so players can develop.

like you said it's a guess. Plus it's beside the point, as is bringing up say Leicester fans wanting Forest to lose. We want it to happen, but i don't really find it funny and i'm over it within 3 minutes.

All I know is that most of the families I know would rather their kids excel at school/college/Uni than at sports.

It's a very similar story when you look at how many foreigners we have in the English football game and see how many of them are Indian?

Money is pumped into Indian cricket and they are a force, whereas their football and rugby teams are nowhere to be seen. (Well I have actually seen their football team play live and they truely are abysmal!)
