To be honest its all about getting the balance between short and long term.
Short term the results arent there. We cant win games consistantly and I dont think we will this season. I no alot of changes at football clubs happen all the time but lets be honest our club has been a revoling door in every aspect for the last 5 years. Managers, Players, Backroom staff, Grounds and operational staff (eg directors) have come and gone every 5 minutes. This isnt going to bring around long term sustained sucess.
I hate to make the comparision but just look at the england cricket team, 10 years ago (ala under Ray Illingworth) we were making regular changes to the team and the structure of team england. Only now after some period of stability have we achieved serious success.
Or you could look at Bolton who are making their european debut tonight. Hats off to them they have gone about it in the right way.
Long term we have a good bunch of young players who will ether do well for the club or make us some money - Hughes, Maybury, McCarthy, Hume, Stearman, Sheehan and maybe Hammond all who have alot of football ahead of them. This is in stark contrast to were we where 12 months ago. Therefore this has to be a good thing.
Levein still needs alot more time. I get pssied off by our results all the time and I am bemused by the spending of the Connolly money but on the whole this is our lot and we have to stick by it.
