Weirdly structured article. Not that I was ever pro-Puel, but an uninformed person could easily infer from that piece that some of Puel’s achievements were Rodgers’.

The thing in this article that stood out for me was the suggestion that we would need to replace Schmeichel to push into the top four.

I immediately frowned at this and then thought about it a little further. If we're looking at our strongest eleven and we can add, say, Tielemans and two more attacking midfielders, then Schmeichel probably does become the weakest link in the team.

Rather what I thought too. Of the teams who can offer European football this season rather than next, I can imagine someone wanting one of our first eleven except Kasper (and whoever partners Harry)

But am I led to believe there is an actual football journo who realises that Kasper has rather significant weaknesses?

He's failed to improve certain aspects of his game over such a long period that I'm afraid he never will.

Of course he has weaknesses, otherwise he’d have been snapped up by one of the bigger clubs by now.

However I don’t think we could do better at the stage we’re at right now. Similarly neither could he.

I think Schmeichel has had some outstanding games for us this season. His distribution is awful a lot of the time but he's a first rate shot stopper and he does sometimes, albeit rarely, get it right with his kicking.

We would struggle to do any better than him.

the cast majority of keepers that make it to a top half premier League type level are brilliant shot stoppers, I don't think replacing Kasper would be as hard as some of you think, but I would start first with a much easier change, Stowell, he should have been replaced a long time ago with a world class Keepers coach

Shot stopping is all well and good but we are changing the way we play which requires a keeper who can actually keep the ball on the pitch.

BR has already shown clear frustration with his awful distribution.

For some reason (which I didn’t quite understand) we were playing everything straight out from the back - tippy tappy shit across the back line. There was a problem with this in that the players were not used to it and seemingly didn’t have the skills to do it - but they just about got by

Apart, that is, from any time that Schmeichel got involved in any way, because he has no distribution skills at all.

If we are going to do that in future (and I genuinely hope to god we don’t ) then he cannot be the goalie supporting it
