We were top of the Premiership! How things have changed. I've figured Peter Tayor out - he's a good manager but whatever you do, don't give him any money to spend!

and about this time 10 years ago mark mcghee was preparing to 'further' his mangerial career by leaving us for wolves.

:icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: Clever bloke that McGhee - fat barsteward that he was.

And 15 years ago today we won our third game in a row to get to the season's high point of 14th position. A Stuart Balmer oggie won the game for us in front of only about 6,000 fans as we took on Charlton at Selhurst Park, winning 2-1.

Tony James got our first goal - and we were to need another and even more important goal from him in the very near future.

bloody hell, pleat's last season with us was that long ago. this thread is beginning to make me feel old

5 years since we went top - I think it seems a lot longer that that, god the amount of shite football we've seen in the last 5 years!

Excuse me if this is slightly wrong, I did it quickly:-

Since we went top 5 years ago we've Played 210 league games and only won 62, 26 of those coming in our promotion season, leaving only 36 wins in the remaining 4 years (164 games).

CATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:icon_eek:

25 Years ago Jock Wallace took a young City side into the old First division, proclaiming, with tongue in cheek, we were gonna win the bloody thing. Sadly we never. We did do the double over Liverpool :038: though, then got relegated.

Now, that makes me feel old!!!!!!!:icon_cry:

Taylor is a good coach (his record at England Under-21s proves) but hes a bad manager.

To be fair with the Under 21's hes got the best of English talenet. These players arnt yet on a 100k a week, and they are hungry to move into the England Squad. IMO theres really very little needed with these players!

There clubs will do all the coaching, they have something to play for - so they don't require motivation, and PT isnt working with them long enough for them to lose their stamina (our biggest problem by the time he left), as was visable when we played Hull.
