even more important is that Mattock and Mcauley recover from those knocks that they've picked up. Mattock's hip sounds like he might need a rest which is dissapointing before the season has even started.

Come on Newts, is anything likely to happen this week transfer wise? It's all been very, very quiet on the transfer front in the last week or so, not even speculation linking us with anyone, so I can't see anything happening. I think with it being so close to the first game as well, MA will just want to focus on that.

That concerns me, because even though I think our squad has improved a lot, and I feel reasonably confident with it, it struck me that the gaps we do still have in our squad are in the same areas we probably had our biggest problems last season as well (left back, left mid and attacking mid). Left mid is the most important position of the 3 for us to fill, but I think if we don't sign any of the 3 then that could be the difference between us finishing in the top 6 and not.
If we fill those 3 positions well enough, it could make the difference between automatic promotion and not..

I think this week there will be at least a dozen posters taking wild stabs in the dark at some players that may or may not be coming to the club and nearly all of them will be wrong.
