Ah, it works!

Thanks for that Cleefox, got to admit i have NEVER been to the walkers stadium!! Oh dear...Used to go to Filbert St every home game as well as most away game for about 15 years, but now i live in London (for the past 12 years) and work in Manchester while commuting between the two twice a week it's a bit difficult!!!

I'm happy to meet anywhere at you convenience, maybe a pub so i can buy you a drink to say thanks?

Trying to bring a friend along so hopefully will be able to take both.

Many thanks

David

Talk about being tight fisted. Camberwell has not been to the Walkers at all, then he gets a sniff of free tickets, then asks for 2 fecking tickets so he can take his mate. The cheek of him.......

From my experience of travelling to Manchester whilst I was at uni there, it took half the time to drive that it would to catch a train.

If driving, then I'm pretty sure it is M6 to Stoke, A50 (i think, could be 500) to M1, then off at Junction 21. Pretty easy, can be done in 1.5 hours but normally 2. ;)

Maybe you were getting the wrong trains. If you time it right you should be able to do the train journey in comfortably under 2.5 hours. I'd rather do that than drive down the M6 at peak time, I hate the M6 with a passion!

Getting back to Manchester after the match is no problem, get the 22:49 train to Nuneaton, then a Nuneaton to Manchester train. There's also a later option via Sheffield.

Cool, thanks everyone, i'll look into which is the best option as i work north of Manchester (Chadderton, near Oldham), so not really, sure.

Any more advice greatlfuly received!!

Including travelling to and from train stations it will take longer than 2.5 hours. The quickest way is change at Sheffield but more often than not there will be some repairs going on somewhere which means your quickest route is not an option. ;)

Never had any major traffic problems going to or from Manchester in the 15+ times I have made the journey. :102:

EDIT: Bet I have just cursed it now as I'm off up there in an hour or so!! :icon_redf
