I think its about time he resigned...the county are in a right mess.

He has had plenty of time to build a side..and for whatever reason it is not happening.

We can all blame money..but i think he is just struggling to implement what he wants.

The 20/20 is almost here and i really fear for us...who is going to get the runs?

Hodge and Du Toit will probably open and our only other power hitter of sorts is Wayne White.

This tournament is our bread and butter, and he should have built a side suited to it,yet i think we might end up being whipping boys.

A strange situation.

There can't be many head coaches/ managers in professional sport who can survive the prolonged lack of success that Tim Boon has overseen.

However, he is going to claim that we have less resources than other counties and that the coaching team has help to develop several good young players.

Personally, I just feel that the same group of coaches has been around a bit too long and the coaching set-up probably needs new leadership as part of a shake up. However, the situation seems a bit complicated by the dominant role the chief executive seems to play in cricket matters.

I have supported his policies, but the continued awful batting displays suggest either (a) too much faith in players that simply aren't going to make it or (b) poor coaching of players who have the potential to make it

I do give him a bit of leeway this year as clearly the batting line-up should have included Jefferson, McDonald, Benning, Taylor and Nixon which is a strong core of players.

A few observations:

- we can't expect too much without the resources to buy in the type of player that once was the case

- James Taylor looks to have the focus and ability to challenge in future for a Test place, although I doubt whether he will still be at Leics when and if that is realised

- I'm not so sure about the real quality of some of the other young players, tho' Buck has generally looked very promising this season

- I'm not convinced that even that core which you mention above is that strong (in comparison with other counties). At least two of them are injury prone and another is 40 this year - and we may not see too much and for too long, the overseas player. One of the interesting things that suggests that we are very thin on the ground is that you would pick a very similar 'strongest' side for the 4 day games as for the T20.

- I think that it would take a very strong leader and very talented coach to make a real impact. It may be slightly unfair but I suspect that the present set up is a bit too cosy.
