Given the state of refereeing over the years, and the amount of money at stake. Its time for modern technology to come into the game. It will not slow the game down as Sky TV can do replays in an instant. If a player is or is not offside, why not let him have a go at goal, if he scores the ref can ask for video evidence and get the result in seconds to say if the goal stands or not.
Likewise on penalty calls, corners etc.
For christ sake they can do a player on video evidence after the match, which is really unfair to the other team as he should have been sent off anyway, which then takes away an otherwise advantage to the other team.

Anyway they are just a small amount of my views.

We pay good money to watch any given match, and so the rules should be stuck to like glue, and if the ref cannot see everything then the tosser should not be there, give him video help. I for one would not mind waiting a few seconds to get the proper outcome rather than a ref giving what HE thinks is right. Take for instance that Brighton corner on Tuesday. All the players and fans knew it was a goal kick.................except the twat ref!

IMO this should never happen as its part of the appeal of the game. It is the fans input on how he would he pick the team ? what formation would he play? and post match discussions are taken up by the questioning of the referees/linesmans decisions if you sanitise the game too much it would lose much of its already waning appeal

What about for close offsides and 'was it over the line' decisions though - these can mess things up for teams unfortunate enough to be on the wrong end of the decisions and wouldn't take long to decide on.

Sometimes decisions go for you, sometimes (or most of the time in our case) they go against you. If they brought in video replays, we'd have nothing to discuss in the pub after the match. It would take away the feeling that we've been hard done by, which is an integral part of being a City fan.

I say NO!

Totally agree, i don't agree with players getting punished by being caught on camera either.

When did the fans or ref pick the team or arrange the formation?

My exact point. If they can use video to nab players off the ball, it should work both ways

NO NO NO NO NO NO to video involvement in the game. It has a place in Cricket but not football, ever.

Well let the FA do something positive about those fecking refs then

Nope, don't like the idea of videos at all. It would slow the game down because even if the ref did let the play continue then look afterwards, it would take a while for the game to restart because they'd still have to go look at the video. And how annoying would it be for your team to score about 5 goals a game and then the ref look at the videos and say they were all offside!

Plus, as someone else mentioned, it takes away a lot of the discussion around the game, which is part of what makes football great!

The only possible use of technology I think could be a good idea is sensors on the goal line. In Ice Hockey when the puck crosses the line it automatically makes a sound. I think that could be used in football, so you know when it's crossed the line. It still takes away discussion a bit, but if the ball has clearly crossed the line and the goal isn't given, or vice versa, then it can be a huge difference for a team...
I wouldn't want anything more than that though. And I'm not sure they'd do that without the players being able to set it off. They'd probably have to put something in the ball, which would probably make it heavy.

that would be admitting that the refs were sh*t in the first place (which they are)

they are trying that microchip in the ball thing in the youth world cup soon i think and if the ball crosses the line a buzzer goes off, if sucessful it will be used in the world cup proper in germany

Then there'll be ball tampering...use different balls for when the home team have a corner or free kick near goal...

problem is you say no so what has to be done, because the current situation is a farce and getting worse. There is noone seemingly for the ref's to answer to, what happens to a ref who makes a blunder that costs a club promotion or relegation? something needs to change. If a player/manager challenges a ref they get fined its a joke.

Football controversy is what its all about. What would you do on a Saturday night if there was no ref to slag off. If there was to be video refs it should be for a penalty(inside or out of area) and ball crossing the line decisions only. Anything else would make it like american football. Improving the standard of referee's would help. For that matter why do ex players never turn to refereeing, is it because they couldn't handle the abuse that they themselves have dished out over the years :102:

Ex players would have too many mates still playing to be able to give a neutral decision I would suspect. Also the wages would be crap for them.

My view is still as before, video assistance to refs.
As for talking in pubs after the game, it could be about how fair the game had been. :)
