i can understand why we were cautious but IMO if wed had a go we might well have come through - the few times we put it under pressure blackburns defence looked far from solid. nice to say tiatto and gillespie staying up the pitch when defending corners btw

CL was obviously happy to play it out as a draw & settle for a replay , which obviously backfired with the DICKov penalty. But, as whorey as it sounds, at least we can concentrate on the league now.
we've earn't a valuable few pounds out of a cup run, that can now be put to good use, player funds; making sure the 'no smoking' signs on the concourse area are well maintained; keeping the toilet facilities clean & comfortable etc, etc,

Eaxtra money to ensure De Vires stable has fresh straw and carrots aplenty!

To be honest - i think you must be a complete idiot. De Vries was excellent yesterday at what he had to do, he was strong, ran himself ragged and looked knackered at 70 minutes which is when I was hoping CL would turn it around.

People like you are ruining this club.

Borussia Dortmund play the ball into Jan Koller's feet. Our goal scoring chances and de Vries' own performance would improve enormously if we started doing the same. Any defender worth their salt can defend the high ball knocked in, but play it to feet and then they get worried by the man with the ball and players running in support.

Once that penny drops I like our chances. ;-)

I love your optimism, and always respect the views of all posters on here (most of them, anyway). We do all see different things etc. etc.

However, my opinion is that the two games played by De Vries against Forest and Blackburn (I did not go to Burnley so cannot comment) rank as two of the most inept displays I have seen by a City forward for quite some time (and there is some pretty stiff competition)

But what do I know ..............?

It's pointless arguing over it - you saw something different to me

I saw a man who lost possession time and time again, who won one header from a plethora of hoof balls that came his way, who whinged and complained constantly about being fouled when he wasn't, was rightly booked for moaning on and on like a complete arse, and who completely lost the plot in terms of trying to fight the Blackburn defenders and pull their shirts instead of beat them with skill and/or strength

I admit he lacked support from a midfield under clear instruction to sit in their own half, but that does not excuse the pitiful exercise in futility that was Mark de Vries yesterday

You saw something else, and that's fine.

I know what I saw, and I don't particularly want to see it again

Fair comment, but he was fouled sometimes Homer honestly. The one that stood out was when he was firstly pulled down and then tripped by 2 defenders right outside the area in the first half,it was blatant and Wanker Barry just ignored it

While I think you have a point Homer, I really don't see what many other strikers could have done playing a complete lone role up front.. He scared their defence, was niggled and fouled, was never given the chance to get on to anything at all really.

I just want him to work to be honest! And i find the comparisons with Akinbuyi a little pathetic.

After Charlton everybody was singing his praises as well :?

He was superb, and with Hughes in the side he probably would've got more service to feet too.

There seems to be quite a difference in opinion about MDV. The player ratings thread had a big variation between worked hard with no support ,to others saying he was a complete waste of space.I don't see him starting in the Watford game cos he's probaly knack'd from yesterday. IMO MDV looks slow, but its harsh that fans are on his back already. I hope he can do a job for us, but if the fans pick on him for a scapegoat then its never going to happen for him and us.

I agree if he had concentrated on getting the ball rather than defending the ball he may have done something worth while. As for his moaning, MDV was fouled. But, when the ref did not give it, MDV should have shut up and let his strength and skills do the talking.
Other than his first two, 15 mins appearances MDV has played for the fouls

Watford Away

Hello folks,

Fairly new to this forum only posted a couple of times

Does anyone have any idea of how many City fans will be going down to the Watford game as I hope we have a fair few making the trip ??

Cheers :-D
