Confusing as hell. Is he moving or not.
Seems to me he does not want to leave Portsmouth.
"But a cruciate knee ligament injury kept him out for the best part of two years and he has started just a handful of games since"
That is a serious injury, i feel let him stay at Pompey, he could be over the hill.
Big risk to sign him on a contract in the summer, the loan spell he turned down would have showed if he is still up to the task.
Below is the article from the Portsmouth paper on the 22nd March
I'm ready to seize my chance
Svetoslav Todorov is closer to a Pompey chance following Andy Cole's exit
STRIKER Svetoslav Todorov is ready to grab the opportunity presented by Andy Cole's Pompey exit.
Harry Redknapp revealed Todorov would now get his chance with Cole's loan switch to Birmingham.
The Bulgarian has eight games left to force his way into the side and persuade Redknapp he deserves a new contract.
Todorov has not played for Pompey since August. But he has every chance of being on the bench at Fulham in nine days.
Todorov, out of contract in the summer, was resting between training sessions ahead of Bulgaria's Euro 2008 qualifier with Albania when he learned of Cole's move.
The 28-year-old said: 'I'm surprised Andy Cole is going. It's been frustrating for me not playing. When I've been given the chance, I've scored goals.
'We'll see what happens now – hopefully I will get a chance. I love playing for Pompey and have always tried my best. I don't care who I play alongside – they're all good strikers.
'As for my future, everything is up in the air because my contract expires at the end of the season. We'll see what happens.'
Pompey's current weakness in front of goal has heightened calls for Todorov's recall. The Blues have failed to score in six of their past seven Premiership games.
Redknapp believes Pompey can cope without Cole for the final eight games.
He said: 'I'm happy with what I've got. I've got four strikers to choose from. I've got Toddy, Benjani, Lualua and Kanu, so I'm okay.
'This time last year I had only two fit strikers – Toddy and Benjani. We've got eight games left, and Toddy will be involved. He's had his share of injuries this season, but he's fit now.'
Todorov, who had a spell on loan at Wigan earlier this season, has rejected approaches from Championship sides Leicester and Stoke.
He was Pompey's top scorer with 26 goals in their 2002-03 promotion-winning season.
