Suspected it might be the case that something popped up in the medical.

Surprised we went ahead with it, but I’m no expert on stress back fractures. Or indeed, anything on earth.

You’d like to think (but it’s never a guarantee with us) that they are satisfied it it minor.

Fair enough. I find spending a rumoured £6m sort of amount on somebody with a stress fracture in his back a bit of a risk, especially given the tighter financial world we must be living in at the minute. In that way, I find it a bit of an odd signing.

I understand that but flip the argument and it's actually quite positive.

I've been deeply annoying in my concern about our financial situation. Giving this deal the green light, when it would have been very simple and sensible in the short term to withdraw, suggests that the club feel more comfortable than the figures suggest. Especially when the Daka deal died.

Of course, it could just be a reflection of total incompetence behind the scenes.

Yes I considered that myself. It could easily be a reflection of that, so could be viewed either way, as you say. I've not been quite as concerned as others about our finances being absolutely perilous, due to a few things I know, but it's still a fair chunk of money, nonetheless.

But, but but… I thought it was all because our useless back room staff, and indeed the whole set up at Seagrave, was a complete disaster area?

So he didn't get injured with us. Someone will be disappointed.
