WATFORD have today (Monday) completed the loan signing of Manchester United youngster Tom Cleverley.

The 20-year-old midfielder has joined the Hornets until January 2010 after the club moved to sign the versatile player in time for tomorrow's game at Nottingham Forest.

Cleverley has also enjoyed international experience with the England U20 team.

He played alongside Ross Jenkins in last week's friendly against Montenegro, scoring twice in the 5-0 win.

The Basingstoke-born midfielder can also play in defence and joins Watford after a successful loan period at Leicester City last season that culminated in promotion back to the Championship for the Foxes.

He started 10 times for the Championship new boys, scoring two times during his time with Nigel Pearson's side.

Cleverley has been a regular in United's successful reserve side and was called up to the first team squad for the club's tour of South Africa during the 2008 pre-season campaign.

Cleverley has been handed squad number 20 at Vicarage Road.

why the fcuk didnt pearson get him in on loan???

And I thought he had high regards for us.
Shame.

To be fair, I think we are pretty well covered in that area and would rather we signed either a left back or striker on loan instead.

Might have something to do with them being able to give him more time on the pitch than us. With wellens and oakley he'll struggle to get in the centre and we have 4 wide players around the squad too.

Good player and a shame he didn't come back. Best of luck to him. We need attackers and not more midfielders anyway.

He looked OK last season, but no better than King IMO, and certainly no better than Wellens, Oakley or N'Guessen have this term.

I'd rather King had another season to improve than have Cleverley back.

Another year won't be long enough.

I still think he's going to make a decent player, and he's ours too. I'd much rather see a young player that we've spent our time working on than developing a similar player for another club.
