I need to get rid of some stones after this xmas.

its December its not too late.

It will probably be too late if we give Pearson another couple of months, ideally a new manager should be given the transfer window. I would sack him if we lose tomorrow.

Mathematically you are very obviously correct.

However, points target is already disappearing out of sight; most unlikely that the sort of calibre of player we need would consider joining us in the January window irrespective of who is manager.

So of course there is always hope whilst there is life but I think the club should stick tight for this season as there aren't many managers around who are as likely as Pearson is to re-gain promotion.

Pearson is the new Mick McAarthy - fine for the Championship - forget it for the Premier League.

Well. That all seems a bit glacial.

You treasure preseason David. What did you make of this previous one?

Rather off-topic but I will try and answer as I thought back in the summer.

I believe the manager's first pre-season is vital. That is why I made the point in 2008 that some of the complaints about Ian Holloway were over harsh.

Last season I thought we needed a good big striker to partner Vardy. At the time I thought if Leonardo turned out to be good we would be OK. I missed much of October and all November when I am told he was poor. From the games I have seen I have been impressed with him but still we have struggled; so I was wrong there. We got the backup goalkeeper we needed. I felt our fullbacks would struggle but have not seen enough of Simpson to judge him.

Since returning from Hull Nigel has talked of having leaders on the pitch and in the dressing room. At the time I thought Upson and Cambiasso would fill the bill.

With hindsight I would have liked another top; class striker since Vardy rarely completes a game, a quality left back and a ballplaying centre back. There may be good reasons why these were not signed.

Ok so lets say we keep pearson and we go down (he could keep us up of course)
He then gets us promoted again.

Would you get rid after promotion?

A good day to try to be positive, I think so I'd prefer to see yesterday as a bit of an opportunity to persuade players to sign for us. The team haven't stopped trying this season and have never been hammered. However, the squad is very weak by Premier League standards and I suspect that there is a bit of a lack of flexibility on tactics - and sometimes selections have looked a bit odd.

In contrast it's generally accepted that our strength and style were spot on to win the Championship.

So I'm trying to evade your question but you can draw your own conclusions.
