Honeymoon and period

no, i'm not talking about a sex-less wedding night!

I know Rob Kelly is doing very well but i personally don;'t think it's a good thing to keep him in charge for any longer than is needed. i dont think he'll quite manage running the club for a sustained period of time.

lets make the most of the current good form and get the next manager in asap so we can enjoy another "honeymoon period" with them.

not to sound doom and gloom, i just want these good feelings to last longer!!!

up the city!!!

Rob Kelly is managing the players how they should be. The players want to play for him and play for each other and today this showed.

The first thing Rob Kelly did was to insist on the players turning up for games in suit and tie, trainers jeans are now a thing of the past.

I for one would not be disappointed if he was given a good run as top dog

well id rather have a "honey moon period" than ,lose every fecking game, as it's this honey moon period that may just make our club not sink into it's lowest point in its history. ive seen an established manager ruin my club to almost an irreversible position, just to make it clear, rob kelly has actually achieved back to back victories for the first time this season. and this has been the first game ive seen this season where the players really looked passionate.

10/10 to the players
10/10 for rob kelly
10/10 for the fans

believe and trust in what we have, he's even got paddy kisbo playing like a footballer :)

Kelly is doing better than I anticipated and he deserves plenty of credit but I still believe the Club needs a new Manager and a New Face in charge.Hopefully Kelly will be kept on in a Coaching role but its just my belief that we need a new set up with new ideas ,new transfer targets etc.If he really wants the Job then I would want him to come out and say it.At the moment he has very little pressure on ,because he knows he's only in a caretaker capacity, which seems to be beneficial.Like I said though he's done well and deserves Credit.

I feel sorry a bit for Levien. To be fair, He put in a lot of hard work, reduced the wage bill, sorted the old gits out, bought Fryatt then gets sacked. Then we win the next 2 games.

Are these wins the result of what he put into place finally coming to fruition? How much effect did the sacking and Rob Kelly have on the results? Could it have been that if the board have waited two more games then Levein would have won these matches?

no
he was unable to motivate the players he brought and give them the freedom to play. We have a more than capable squad, unfortunatley the manager who brought these players couldnt get the best out of them

Not if Kisnorbo was played in midfield.. as he would have been under Levein...
Not necessarily if MDV hadn't gone out on loan which we all know wouldn't have happened under Levein.......

On this basis if we change manager every 3 or 4 games we could get automatic promotion from a never ending run of honeymoon periods :)

However I do see your point it is too early to judge kelly ther isnt enough games under his belt to see what kind of form he can produce, but all I care about right now that is we winning and we have a better chance of staying up so well done to the team and the manager, and to the fans who I heard cheering the team on today.

I wonder how many Watford amd Preston fans said the same when their present managers took over.

I sort of agree with what Nathan and Highland say in the fact that Kelly is enjoying a relatively pressure free reign at the moment, how he may react, and adjust his tactics and approach might be totally different were the arrangment to become more permanent, also Kelly has no real proven track record in management, he is a coach, surely if the unproven Neil Lennon is not deemed to have the experience to manage us in our current position, why should Kelly be afforded the opportunity. So based on that reasoning then surely we need to appoint a proven manager such as Newell.

But then looking at Boothroyd and Davies as examples, and also by the way Kelly has conducted himself, his demeanour on the bench and most importantly the reaction of the players and fans to his methods and tactics, would it really be such a gamble to give him a try, remember if he was appointed full time, he would need an assistant manager and at least one if not 2 coaches, therefore the fresh ideas would come from there.

If I am honest I am 50 / 50 on either scenario developing, I would be happy if Newell was appointed, but then again I have enjoyed what I have seen under Kelly and I like the way he talks in interviews, it is not about him it is about the club, for me if the board decide to godown either of these two routes I am confident that the club would be in very good and safe hands.

I would rather have Kelly in charge than f*cking Holloway. HOLLOWAY:mad: !

It best not be true.

Kisnorbo played at cetre-half at Plymouth - CL's last game.

One thing I know about holloway he does what frustrated us all so much and that is change his first 11 every game.

Maybe we would all get a go in the end. I'd happily come back for a few weeks at ten grand a week, and then get sacked. Jubbly!

I just think it had gone wrong under CL and it was absolutely the time to say goodbye. I think he's left us a very good legacy, but when his arse was really on the line in the last couple of games, the players didn't respond at all which said very clearly that it was over.

So I think it's largely a lifting of whatever the cloud was that hovered over the squad in terms of attitude (CL, DD? MDV?) rather than Rob Kelly being a super motivator (he might be - but we don't really know yet). I don't want to take anything away from Rob though, as he has made important changes in the basics of playing players in their best positions and sticking with the right players.

But this squad SHOULD be MUCH higher in the league. How long have we said it's a pretty decent squad on paper... finally we might be starting to see it on grass!

Long may it continue :038: :038: :038:

Didn't Rob Kelly say on the post match interview that he sees himself as a coach not a manager. My interpretation on what he was saying was that he prefers to be 'hands on' and rather than have to deal with all the baggage and side isssues that being a manager involves.

Absolutely he did, in fact when asked if he'd like the task, he inferred not!

Reading his interview, he actually says that he will not be going and banging on doors demanding the job, he believes in quietly getting on with the job and if you do well then the door opens for you. IMO RK would love to be approached and offered the job on a more permanent basis, but if it doesnt happen he is leaving himself an opportunity to continue his coaching role.
