Does anyone know how long I have to be into an 18 month contract before I can upgrade my phone. Anyone done this recently?

Im with T-mobile but can't really find anything on their site other than them saying it has to be 1 month before the end of the contract but I though you could do it sooner?

I've found (albeit not with T-mobile) that my network has allowed me to upgrade 6 months out, this must be their way of getting you to sign up to another 18 months before talking to other networks I assume.

Yeh i thought this was the case but can't see it on the t-mobile website. Did you have to pay for the new phone etc?

No I had a few phones on the account so they gave way to a bit of pressure. As far as they were concerned it was just like the start of a new contract and they seemed happy to treat it that way rather than make me wait and talk to others.

Cheers PPF. I'll give them a bell tonight. My phone is wank.

I am with Virgin Mobile, during Vfest09 my phone broke (kept turning off) 4 months from end of contract. I was able to upgrade

Was that a special offer as you were at their on festival when it broke?:102:

t-mobile won't even talk to you until you have one month left as I found out a week ago. I was due an upgrade on the 7th so I phoned and went into the store on the 4th to see if I could do it a few days early. No go.

hmmm this was the impression im gettting, Vodafone openly advertise on their site that you can change early but t-mobile do not.

I'd be surprised with that TBH, I've never been able to do with any supplier.

Vodafone definitely have done in the past. Whether they've changed their policy recently I couldn't say, but I was with them for 2 upgrades and they did it 6 months early on both occasions.

I believe o2 allow early upgrades depending on usage. I spend £35 per month and can upgrade 1 month early. If you spend £45 it's 2 months and so on.

Most providers base how early you can upgrade on how much you spend. I've heard though that T-Mobile are about the worst in this area. Given the fact they are usually 6 months behind the competition in terms of handsets it's quite suprising.

I got lucky with my upgrade, which is due on the 30th Stepember 2011, i rang up today and upgraded my phone to a one year contract for a penalty fee of 45 euros (do able), so i upgraded from my Blackberry to the Samsung Galaxy S - tips please, they were charging an arm and a leg for the Iphone - 350 feckkkking euros.... i can take my mrs away on a weekend break for that.
