Looks like it will be between Obama and McCain, i hope Obama wins though to be honest i don't think it will be as clear cut as people think

and before some wise guy says "its in America i don't care it doesn't effect me" well it quite clearly does, as it will effect not only what to be done in Iraq and beyond, but also our economy.

I never eat oven chips; it doesn't affect me.

Still cant see America voting in a black president to many middle class whites in the south.

The only way Obama can win the election is if he appoints Hildog as VP and gets her supporters on board, the Democratic vote is too divided at the moment.

Then once he's elected and subsequently assassinated Hildog gets to be president, genius.

But the problem with having Hilary as a VP is that hes insisted that its about having a whole new regime in the White House etc

plus despite your light heartness at the end, i think an assasination attempt on Obama is a genuine concern knowing how Americans can be.

Aye but Obama could be clever and attempt to get Clinton on board as vice. Certainly a powerful tool but does mean he has Bill over his shoulder.

Clinton? Tool?

Why are we talking about that again?

Light hearted? :102:

I'm deadly serious

He's not white either.
A massive proportion of Americans are not yet ready for a president who isn't a white male Xian.
Tragic but true.

the real problem is our language, it has quantised race into words, whereas real life is that everyone is mixed and race is a very nebulous concept

caucasian: what the **** is that? the mountains in Russia? i'm not from there and nobody in my family is

i always refuse to tick any boxes on forms because i don't agree with the boxes they come up with and so HR departments don't try and attain quotas by hiring people for the wrong reasons

just had an anonymous survey at work and i ticked gay to boost the company's quota

(and to stop them recruiting Dale Winton to replace me :) )

Those surveys always have hidden codes so that they can identify the respondent if necessary. Like when they tick gay.

So expect some special counselling soon.

I have to organise 'anonymous' surveys from time to time.
If they are electronic surveys, they are far from anonymous.

I can't remember what the figures are but there is a vast number of Americans who never leave the shores of the USA, many do not even have a passport. The majority don't really care what happens in the rest of the world unless there is oil involved or American Troops are fighting there.

For every liberal thinking American I have met (usually in the East) I have met 10 elitest thinking red necks in the midwest and central states. There are whole towns and cities of them out there. They may never say much in print or public but they usually vote the way they think.

Having said all of that I know lots of fantastic Americans who have worked extremely hard to make the world a better place.

This could an interesting election (for those of us interested!)
